Two-time NBA champion Kenny Smith turned to television after retiring from basketball. Now he’s one of his co-hosts on TNT’s Inside the NBA.

In an interview with former teammate Vernon Maxwell, he recalled a case where a coach was fired because of a comment he made on television.

Speaking on the MaXed Out podcast, Smith said: “One day I was on the show with Charles and he said one thing. [Barkley] Backed it up and the coach was fired the next day.

“So me and Charles walked back and said, ‘I can never do that again. I would never say that man shouldn’t have a job.’ That was 11 years ago.” Since that day, we have never said, ‘This guy should be fired, I don’t know why…’
