Top 40 Indiana basketball players of all-time: #35 Uwe Blab

Uwe Blub Until his senior season, he didn’t do much offense in the Indiana basketball program. He played very well in the 1984 NCAA Tournament, especially against Michael Jordan and the North Carolina Tar Heels (highlights below). I did His most impressive assets were his defense and blocking ability, especially when blocking Michael Jordan on back-to-back possessions.

Through the final four games of the NCAA Tournament, Blub averaged 14.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 52.2 percent shooting. Unfortunately, in his senior season, when he averaged 16.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.2 blocks, the Hoosiers went 19-14, 7-11 in conference play, and in 1985 he was NCAA Tournament Champions. could not participate in

Blub has appeared in over 20 games for Indiana Basketball and Bob Knight, and though only in his junior and senior seasons, consistently ranks in the top 10 in the following statistical categories in school history:

After a four-year career with IU, the 7-foot-1 center played just five seasons in the NBA, starting a total of 34 games and averaging just 2.1 points per game. He was drafted 17th overall in his 1985 NBA Draft, but Blub never lived up to his potential. He made a lasting impact on his Indiana basketball career, leading the team to the 1983 Big Ten championship title and the 1984 Elite Eight.
