What are your expectations for UNC in the 2022-23 college basketball season?

For UNC basketball fans, Hubert Davis’ first season as head coach at Chapel Hill felt like watching all the twists and turns of an M. Night Shyamalan movie.

Throughout the regular season, there have been many moments where things seemed to go wrong, culminating in a home loss to the 11-21 Pittsburgh team on February 16, with many UNC fans hoping to win their first NCAA Tournament. I was ready to miss. Time since 2010.

Then came the first big twist with a win over Duke in Mike Klusevski’s final game at Cameron Indoor Stadium. This result would have made the entire season worthwhile for many of his UNC fans. Hubert Davis and team had another plan in mind.

of heel Playing the NCAA Tournament as the No. 8 seed, he swept Marquette off the court with a 32-point victory in the Round of 64. UNC then knocked off defending champion and No. 1 seed Baylor, followed by Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight wins over his UCLA and last year’s Cinderella Inc. his Peters.

Then came the final twist – more than worth the price of attendance. For the first time in NCAA tournament history, North Carolina faced Duke, and the stakes were predictably huge. Duke was looking to get revenge for the loss to North Carolina and send Coach K out for his sixth national championship, but UNC dashed Duke’s championship hopes and forced Coach K to retire. I had the opportunity of a lifetime.

Krzyszewski’s final game at Cameron Indoor Stadium was a loss to North Carolina. His last game as Duke’s head coach was a Final Four loss against North Carolina. UNC For his fans, that alone made last season arguably the most satisfying in the program’s history. The seven national championship seasons are not included.

North Carolina brings back four starters from last year’s team and could win the preseason ACC Player of the Year Award for Armando Bako. The Tar Heels have been selected to win his ACC this season and very likely will be the #1 team in the nation for the preseason when the AP Top 25 is released later this month.

To answer my previous question, “What are your expectations for UNC in the 2022-23 season?”

to win the national championship.

These expectations are not new to programs like North Carolina. In fact, they’re pretty standard for Blue Blood. This year’s team especially feels ready for another deep run in March with a combination of guard play, star power, and experience.
