Bloomington, Indiana — Welcome to a series that introduces new employees to the Indiana Women’s Basketball Program. Next is Yarden Garzon, an Israeli freshman security guard from Ra’anana, Israel.
On December 17, 2021, the Indiana Program announced the signing of Garzon’s team. Indiana head coach Teri Moren said she has been hiring Garzon for several years and is one of the “top European players” in the elite competition against WNBA players.
Garzon is a 4-star rookie with an average of 14.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2 steals per game per game at Maccabi Ironi Ramat Gan, a basketball club in central Israel.
The 6-foot 2-inch guard gained an average of 19.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2 assists, 1.8 steals and 2 blocks per game for the 2021 U20 European Challenger Israeli national team. Garzon is also a member of the Israeli Senior National Team.

Moren said he was impressed with Garzon’s versatile playing style with strong rebound skills and point guard leadership. With the graduation of the 6’3 inch forward Alexa Garve, Garzon once again adds some height to the Hoosiers roster.
Garzon’s sister Rior is also an experienced player in the United States, so it must be in her blood.
A 6-foot-1-inch forward, Rior played in Villa Nova for an average of about 20.9 minutes in his sophomore season, 8.8 points per game. She then moved to Oklahoma for the 2022-23 basketball season.
