Did Kobe Bryant play a role in the farewell of Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant’s duo at Oklahoma City Thunder? A recent story shared by ESPN’s Adrian Voinaroski suggests that Kobe’s trash talk may have had some impact.
According to Voy, Kobe told Westbrook that all three should win the scoring title, not Durant, while all three were competing in the US Olympics in 2012.
It took another four years for KD to leave Thunder and build a dynasty with the Golden State Warriors, but one of the reasons he left was Russ’s ball hog.
Around ESPN’s Adrian Voinaroski As transcribed by Dan Feldman from NBC Sports:
In 2012, I remember in Kobe that he spent many Olympics, or some of them with Russell Westbrook. I don’t know why Kevin is winning the scoring title. You should beat them. Whatever he could do to challenge his two teammates, it was pretty interesting.
