Basketball is back. It’s been 140 days since he disastrously collapsed in Game 7 against the Mavericks at the Footprint Center.
Storylines were plentiful throughout the offseason, with distractions looming everywhere. Thurber, Durant, Crowder, Monty-Ayton’s mechanics, Ayton’s deal, lack of eye-opening acquisitions, gloomy media days, you name it.
As expected, the Suns are a strong contender against Adelaide and will have to focus on experimenting on set.
Projected Sands Starter
- Deandre Ayton

what to see
Yes, this is a preseason game with an NBL team, but that doesn’t mean we can’t take things away from what we’re seeing.
When entering the first competition of preseason, focus on body language, effort and engagement.
Personally, I’m excited to see what newcomers Duane Washington and Jock Landale look like. I think these two in particular will pleasantly surprise Suns fans.
The return of Dario Saric will also be another story to watch, having played in Croatia this summer.
Starting at 4, Kam Johnson will be another story to watch throughout the preseason as we see how he looks in the starting unit.
Missed/Injured: Jae Crowder (outside), Josh Okogee (hamstring, out at least two weeks)
Opponent
Adelaide finished seventh in the NBL last season with a 10-18 record, bringing back two of their top three scorers (Deck and Johnson) and adding former NBA talent alongside Kai Sot. rice field.
The NBL is (obviously) nowhere near the talent level of the NBA, but they play it the right way with a focus on fundamentals and execution. I think the Suns can handle it relatively easily, but it’s not without fights and fights with the 36ers.
Key Players: Antonius Cleveland, Sunday Deck, Robert Franks, Daniel Johnson, Kai Sotto.
No, nothing that will make or break the season that was discovered in tonight’s game, but it’s really nice that Phoenix Suns basketball is back.
Let the preseason overreactions begin.
