LAS VEGAS, Nevada — In Friday’s 96-81 win over Auburn, the Indiana women’s basketball team said its star player senior guard Grace Berger suffered a right knee injury on the Hoosiers’ third offensive possession. And when I fell, I lost.
Berger sat on the edge of the bench, chilled his feet, and lifted across the seats for the rest of the game. Other players have also played their part, five of them led by senior forward Mackenzie Holmes, who scored 26 on Friday, 27 on Saturday and two against Memphis. I was.
“We’ve had some adversity in the last few days, with Berger going down (Friday) and the game going on (Saturday),” Holmes said. “We started almost an hour late, so it’s really important that things like that prepare us in stride and deal with the situation with maturity.
Indiana head coach Terry Mollen said he wanted to be clear that the floor wasn’t the reason Berger collapsed, despite playing in the ballroom at the Las Vegas Invitational.
Mollen added that he didn’t want Berger to aggravate his knee by walking around the hotel on crutches on Saturday as a precaution because the building was large.
Berger was sidelined again Saturday night in the Hoosiers’ 79-64 victory over Memphis, with four players scoring in double figures.

“Everybody needed to do a little more,” said Holmes. “It doesn’t matter what position you’re in, coming off the bench or starting five… The bounty on both sides of the ball is huge for us, so everyone needs to take that extra step. Just be prepared.”
As for Berger, doctors in Indiana are aware of her situation and plan to see her as soon as possible when the team returns on Sunday night.
“She’s scheduled to have an MRI[Sunday]night when we land,” Mollen said. I was told they would do an MRI, and then we would know more.”
Moren thinks she’s a hopeful person and Berger had some fun with his trainer Ben this weekend.
“I’m optimistic because I need to be there for her,” Moren said.
