The College Football Playoffs Committee has delivered its final verdict for the 2022 season.
As expected, No. 1 Georgia and No. 2 Michigan come out on top. Behind them is the No. 3 TCU, who remained among the top three teams in the nation despite losing Saturday’s Big 12 championship game. And in a ranking reversal in 2017, Ohio State stayed ahead of Alabama, becoming his fourth and final team in the CFP.
TCU took control of their fate heading into Saturday’s Big 12 championship game, but then Lost 31-28 in extra time 10 to Kansas. It’s clear that the committee didn’t want to punish the Horned Frogs team, who narrowly lost the conference championship weekend, to the team that remained idle behind them.
This is the second time Alabama has missed the playoffs under Nick Saban and the first since the 2019 season. The Crimson Tide eventually finished in his fifth place, the highest ranked among his two losing teams in the country. They play in the Sugar Bowl vs. No. 9 Kansas State.
