Aliyah Boston, Caitlin Clark Headline AP Preseason Women’s CBB All-American Teams | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors

Aaliyah Boston and Kaitlyn Clarke were unanimously selected Tuesday to the 2022-23 AP Preseason Women’s Basketball All-American Team. Doug Feinberg AP’s.

Hayley Jones of Stanford University, Ashley Jowens of Iowa State University, Elizabeth Kitley of Virginia Tech, and Aneetha Morrow of DePaul were also selected.

Boston was named last year’s AP Player of the Year. She averaged 16.8 points, 12.5 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game, helping South Carolina win a national championship.Gamecocks were unanimous preseason as Boston came back number one team in the country last week.

South Carolina coach Dawn Staley said of Boston, “I don’t think all the awards define who she is, but they also put her in the position that she’s in a more relaxed mode. “She’s still in a hungry place.”

As one of the nation’s top scorers, Clark will be a front-runner for this season’s individual award.

The guard averaged 27.0 points per game last season, adding 8.0 rebounds, 8.0 assists and 1.5 steals. She has already scored 1,662 points going into her junior season and she is sure to break her many records before graduating from school.

Like Boston and Clark, Jones First Team All-American last year. The guard averaged 13.2 points, 7.9 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.1 blocks per game, helping the Cardinals remain top contenders after falling to his Four in the Finals.

Joeens, a senior, averaged 20.3 points and 9.5 rebounds per game last season for Iowa State and shot 37.6% from 3-point range.

Kitley is the bottom of Virginia Tech’s team, averaging 18.1 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game. The seniors scored 42 points in her final game last year, losing to the Florida Gulf her coast in her first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Morrow is the first team’s only sophomore after showing off last year with 21.9 points, 13.8 rebounds, 2.7 steals and 1.8 blocks per game. She achieved a double-double in 24 of her last 25 games as a freshman.

After earning second-team All-American honors last year, Morrow has a chance to be a star.
