Amar’e Stoudemire charged with battery after allegedly hitting daughter

Former 15-year NBA veteran Amare Stoudemire faces a misdemeanor battery charge after allegedly punching one of his teenage daughters in the face.

Stoudemire, 40, was arrested early Sunday morning and later released on a bond of $1,500 and a no-contact order, according to Miami-Dade County court records.

Stoudemire punched one of his two teenage daughters during an argument at his Miami home on Saturday night, according to a copy of the police report obtained by the Miami Herald. The report did not specify which of her two daughters, 17-year-old Stoudemire and her 14-year-old Stoudemire, were attacked.

Police reports said Stoudemire confronted the girl over the phone and accused her of being disrespectful to her mother. , punched her in the chin and caused her to bleed.

The girl contacted the mother of Stoudemire’s ex-wife who had come to the house to pick up the two girls and two brothers and called the police.

Stoudemire’s attorney is not listed in the court records. His Instagram page shows he received his master’s degree from the University of Miami on Saturday.

Stoudemire was named Rookie of the Year with the Phoenix Suns after the 2002-03 season. After he played eight seasons with Phoenix, he was traded to the New York Knicks, where he played five years. He finished his NBA career with his Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat each one his season before playing in Israel. He retired in 2017.

During his NBA career, Stoudemire made six All-Star teams and averaged 18.9 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.
