Arkansas earns program record 7th place finish in Directors’ Cup Standings

Fayetteville, Ark. – – For the second year in a row, Arkansas won the program record, which finished seventh in the final ranking of the 2021-22 Rearfield Directors Cup announced Thursday by the National Association of Collegiate Sports (NACDA). Razorbucks has won the NCAA title (Women’s Indoor Track & Field), eight NCAA Top 10 finishes, and ten Southeastern Conference regular season and tournament championships. This includes men’s and women’s cross-country and SEC triple crown sweeps both on track and in the field. Second Straight Soccer Regular Season Crown, Program’s First Softball Regular Season Title, Baseball Regular Season and Tournament Championship. The Director’s Cup tracks the performance of the country’s most successful inter-university athletics program throughout the year. Arkansas has made its 11th appearance in the College World Series, ending the 2021-22 season. Razorbucks won the NCAA Regional in Stillwater, Oklahoma and the NCAA Super Regional in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, qualifying for the National Championships in Omaha, Nebraska. Arkansas finished third in the CWS, just one game below the championship series. Hoggs has advanced to the College World Series for the third time in the last four seasons, scoring 83 Directors Cup points at the finish.

Razorback Softball was once again at the forefront of the nation, winning the second straight SEC regular season championship and winning the SEC tournament for the first time in school history. Courtney Deifel’s team hosted both the NCAA Regional and the Super Regional at Bogle Park. Hoggs finished the 9th Thai season in the whole country. Arkansas scored 64 points in its historic season.

Another Razorbucks Women’s Team has added its own Top 10 National Finish. Arkansas finished sixth in the NCAA Outdoor Athletics Championships, with coach Lanceharter and his team scoring 73.5 points in the Director’s Cup. Razorbucks also recognizes the country’s top programs for the 2021-22 season, based on the NCAA Cross-Country, Indoor and Outdoor Championship results, and the prestigious Terry Crawford Women’s Division I Program. After winning the SEC Triple Crown (cross-country, indoor and outdoor tracks) in the 2021-22 season, coaches Chris Bucknum and Razorback’s men’s athletic team scored 50.5 points in the Director’s Cup ranking. .. Arkansas finished 23rd in the NCAA Outdoor Athletics Championships.

Coach Brad McMakin and Razorback’s men’s golf team recorded the top 10 finishes nationwide. Arkansas proceeded to the NCAA Regional and finished ninth in the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship in Scottsdale, Arizona. The finish earned 69 Directors Cup points and was the best national finish for the program since Arkansas made a national runner-up in 2009.

The Arkansas Women’s Golf Team has also advanced a regional round to compete in the NCAA Women’s Golf Championship in Scottsdale. Shauna Taylor’s team finished 22nd in the nation, contributing 51.5 points to the Razorbucks Director’s Cup total.

Director Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar led the Arkansas Women’s Tennis Program to get the most out of the first season and qualify for the NCAA tournament. Razorbucks earned 25 points for participating in the NCAA Tournament draw.

Arkansas continued the recent momentum of gymnastics. Arkansas has advanced to the regional finals for the second consecutive season. Razorbucks finished second in the NCAA Norman (Oklahoma) Regional session and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen. Coaches Jordan Weaver and Jim Bucks ended the team season and were a little embarrassed to compete in the national championships. Arkansas scored 60.75 points in the NCAA finish.

Director Eric Musselman and the Razorback Men’s Basketball Team have been deeply involved in the NCAA tournament for the second year in a row. Razorbucks won three games in a draw, including defeating No. 1 Gonzaga in the Sweet Sixteen and advancing to the Elite Eight and West Regional Finals. This is the first time Arkansas has made it to the Elite Elite in consecutive seasons since the 1993-94 and 1994-95 campaigns. As a result of that effort, Arkansas earned 73 Director’s Cup points.

Razorbucks continued its outstanding tradition in athletics during the indoor season. After both the men’s and women’s teams won the SEC Indoor Track and Field Team title, they advanced to the Top 10 finish in the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship. Lance Harter led the women’s team to 4th place at the national tournament. The podium finish produced 80 points. Coach Chris Bucknum and the men’s team finished in 7th place, scoring 72 points against the program’s total Director’s Cup points.

The Arkansas Women’s Swimming and Diving Team has secured the top 30 finishes in the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Neil Harper’s team finished 28th in the national tournament and scored 46 Director’s Cup points.

Arkansas has returned to the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament after participating in the 2020-21 Big Dance. Without the 2019-20 campaign with a shortened pandemic, Razorbucks would have won three straight NCAA appearances. Coach Mike Neighbors and Razorbacks scored 25 points for winning a berth in the NCAA Tournament Field.

Arkansas began the fall season with a pair of SEC championships and finished in the top 10 NCAA cross-country. The men’s cross-country team took the podium at the national tournament, scoring 80 points and finishing in 4th place. The Razorback Women’s Cross-Country Team also fell to the top 10 in 8th place, scoring 70.5 Directors Cup points.

Arkansas won the SEC regular season crown for the third consecutive year before making its first foray into the NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament’s Elite Round. The program’s record postseason run landed 73 points for Hoggs.

Coach Sam Pittman and the Razorback football team became one of the best Grislon seasons in recent history in 2021. Arkansas defeated Penn State 24-10 in the Outback Bowl, ending the amazing 9-4 season. Razorbucks won the final national ranking of 20th in the USA Today / AFCA Coaches Association vote and scored 54 points in the Director’s Cup.
