Barnum Tabbed to Katrina McClain Award Watch List


As announced by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), redshirt senior Erin Burnham is one of 20 people in the country to be named to watchlist members for the 2023 Katrina McClain Awards. This is the first time an Arkansas women’s basketball player has been nominated for the Katrina McClain Award and the first time she’s been included on the Razorback’s watch list since before her 2020-21 season.

Burnham, one of the team’s oldest and most experienced players, is entering his fourth year with the Razorbacks. The Little Rock, Arkansas native has had consistent numbers, playing in 77 career games since her first college appearance in 2019.

Burnham was playing the best basketball of her career early last season. That includes her career-high 18 points and 9 rebounds in Arkansas’ win over her SMU. Fans are encouraged to participate in the Fan Vote in one of three rounds beginning Friday, October 21st. His 20-player list for the award narrows down to 10 for him in late January and 5 for him in late February. His five of the finalists will be presented to McClane and the Hall of Fame selection committee to determine the winner in March.

The 2023 Katrina McClain Award winners will be announced at a later date, along with four other members of the Women’s Starting Five. Other awards awarded include the Nancy Lieberman Award (Point Guard), the Ann Myers Drysdale Award (Shooting Guard), the Sheryl Miller Award (Small Forward) and the Lisa Leslie Award (Center).

Arkansas women’s basketball will face Arkansas Fort Smith in an exhibition on Wednesday, November 2nd at 7:00 PM at Bud Walton Arena.
