BoilerUpload – Big Ten Power Rankings Vol. 2

With just one loss for Purdue, the gap between top and middle in the Big Ten continues to widen.

What an absolute mess. Purdue keeps winning and everyone else in college basketball keeps losing. Especially in the Big Ten predicted by Kenpo, seven teams are projected to finish with a record of 500 in the Big Ten.

It’s ridiculous. Purdue leads the conference by two games and has 11 conference games scheduled.

The Rutgers showed they were most likely the second-best team in the conference by defeating Purdue, but were given the away-to-road treatment by Michigan State.

Izzo and everyone else in the Big Ten, except Minnesota, find themselves in a confused, unsure if there’s any flavor of B10 basketball left. Everyone seems to be playing the same game. So let’s jump to Volume 2 of the Power Rankings to make sense of this league.

1. Purdue 19-1 (8-1)

It wasn’t pretty, but Purdue continued to win, narrowly beating Alabama in the polls to once again become the No. 1 team in the nation.

Purdue It’s a no-brainer on my list and we’re approaching the remaining laps of the Big Ten. and won a close match against a Maryland team that has always played tough at Purdue.

Zach Eady was a 20-10 machine, and Purdue found multiple second and third options to enter each game with him. They are defending at the top 20 level and currently have the best offense and defense in the conference. They are national title contenders, currently the #1 seed, and the only favorites to win the Big Ten.

2. Rutgers 13-6 (5-3)

Rutgersin the process of hitting Purdue, It’s the only true marquee victory in the Big Ten at this point.doing in Purdue It means that weight will last all season. They’re also an elite defensive team…even if their offense lacks shot-making.

They stumbled a bit in their last four games, michigan street and at home Iowabut a solid win Ohio it no longer looks good, Northwest starting to impress Rutgers Keep 2nd place.

3. Indiana 13-6 (4-4)

Indiana Obtained lace thompson Coming back, they won three games in a row after the season itself looked like it could fall apart.good win Wisconsin When Michiganand road wins in Illinois present Indiana Back on the national stage. (If you’re not a winner, you’re definitely a fan of Twitter.)

Trace-Jackson-Davies was great, stepping into more playmaking and playing all the roles on offense. It’s working for Hoosier. While TJD was off, Indiana won three straight in double digits and scored over 30 points in consecutive games.

Suddenly, Purdue’s trip to Bloomington looks like a rivalry game worthy of the history of the two programs.

4. Michigan Street 13-7 (4-4)

Michigan The last four games have been tough. Illinoishosting Purdue When Rutgers, a trip to Indiana. None of these losses are embarrassing, but for a team where he only has one win to top 20 wins, it’s a concern that he loses three out of four. But Rutgers It was a good win and we won against Purdue until the last second.

They’ll get a chance to rematch on Sunday at McKee Arena.

5. Maryland 12-7 (3-5)

Marylandbig security guards stood up Purdue And mounted a late run that almost had PurdueLos Angeles suffered their second loss at home, but Maryland was unable to close the gap and Purdue emerged victorious. The Terrapins have always played tough against Purdue, and that’s clearly carried over into Kevin Willard’s regime.

Maryland also lost on the road to Iowa, but managed a win at home against Michigan. Their records are a little deceptive. Their start to the Big Ten schedule has already been brutal with road trips to Purdue, Iowa, Rutgers and Michigan.

They got a great rest and will be hosting three straights at home next week.

6. Iowa 12-7 (4-4)

Iowa According to KenPom, the elite offense is the 5th best in the country. They won four in a row, including a great win on the road at Rutgers, but lost to Ohio State in Columbus on Saturday. They are starting to get fitter and seem to be playing their best basketball this season.

But they do have some brutal road games on the horizon, going to East Lansing on Thursday to face the Spartans and Purdue on February 9.

They still suffer their most puzzling loss of the season to Eastern Illinois, and while they’re really struggling on the road, their three-game losing streak may have been more of a fad than a trend.

7. Michigan 11-8 (5-3)

Michigan, a three-out-of-five loser, wants Purdue to travel to Ann Arbor and, like last year, end with a shock loss to the Boilermakers.last year’s contest Michigan It makes a big early move and maintains that lead. This would be a signature win for a team that has never lost to anyone before. They have just two top 40 wins at home against Maryland and Penn State.

In addition to Jett Howard’s injury, the Wolverines’ season, already with a bit of ups and downs, could continue to disappoint.

8. Ohio Street 11-8 (3-5)

What a strange, strange season. Ohio State appeared to be evenly matched with Purdue with his 10-3 record. The freshman’s three is the only one between the Buckeyes and their biggest win of the season, but Royer’s three came in and Ohio State kicked off his spin on the tail.

They also lost to Maryland, Rutgers and Nebraska along the way following their loss to Purdue. Loss of all semi-excusable tough environments.

But lost to Minnesota at home? Even with Minnesota being contacted late, the Golden Gophers have no excuse for his one win in his conference to have to challenge his team for another Big Ten this season. It was an inexplicable loss, and if Bryce Sensabo wasn’t so good, it would be worth blaming Ohio State for the rest of the season. Iowa at home.

9. Pennsylvania State University 13-6 (4-4)

Why did Pennsylvania State go too far with a Northwestern team with more impressive victories than the Nittany Lions? Jalen Pickett.

Pickett played for Penn State instead of Northwestern, enough to make up for the differences between the teams. Penn State’s offense ranks in the top 30, and the program is clearly on the rise. Pickett is a triple-double threat and he is one of the few players who can win a game alone.

10. Northwest 13-5 (4-3)

Northwestern can’t score, but they know how to defend. Chris Collins is his 19th best defenseman in the country, playing on the edge of the floor. They also have some quality wins, including going to Indiana and winning and beating Illinois and Wisconsin at home.

However, Northwestern captured Indiana at just the right time and faced them in many away games.

They still have to go to Iowa, Ohio, Wisconsin, Illinois, Maryland and Rutgers.

11. Illinois 13-6 (4-4)

Illinois took advantage of a calmer portion of the Big Ten schedule with wins over Wisconsin, Nebraska, Minnesota and Michigan State.

However, they were trampled by Indiana at home.

Analytically, they’re one of the strongest teams in the Big Ten with the top 50 offenses and 29th best defense, but they’re outclassed by Purdue, Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Iowa, and Wisconsin.

No other team in the conference has less playmaking and turns the ball over too much. Both of these are deaths on the street. Underwood can seem like he’s lost his team. Too much discomfort to believe Illini.

12. Wisconsin 12-6 (4-4)

Tyler Wall He hasn’t been quite right since returning from a three-game injury absence.too hard to score Wisconsin Despite Chucky Hepburn and Conor Essegian’s highly efficient shooting, there just isn’t enough energy around them.

They don’t get offensive rebounds. I can’t reach the free throw line. They have lost four of their last five games, and he is a substitute in four of his next six. Things don’t get any easier for a team that seems to have difficulty getting the ball into the basket.

13. Nebraska 10-10 (3-6)

A win against Ohio State maintains the landslide of the past four games, where Nebraska has lost every other game by double digits. Nebraska has a lot of fun stuff to do, but Hoiberg just couldn’t put it all together.

Derrick Walker was great, but he doesn’t help every night. The Cornhuskers have too many one-way players and few shots at the bottom of the Big Ten saves…

14. Minnesota 7-11 (1-7)

A shock road win in Ohio may be the only highlight of a tough season for Ben Johnson and his Golden Gophers.

Minnesota is without a win against a top 130 team other than a win against the Buckeyes.

It’s a young roster that may have no one to lose next year, and at this point the team is playing to build habits for next season.
