Bowl projections: Ohio State into College Football Playoff after USC falls as Georgia, Michigan, TCU clinch

We knew there wouldn’t be much drama in Championship Week, at least when it came to the four teams that eventually made it to the college football playoffs. It was simply a question of which team, USC or Ohio State, would be his 4th place finish.

Well, Utah beat USC for the second time this season. 47-24 in 2022 Pac-12 Championship Game, knocking the Trojan out of playoff contention. In fact, USC will most likely be ranked behind Utah State when his final CFP rankings are released on Sunday afternoon.

Ohio State will therefore return to the College Football Playoffs for the third time in the past four seasons, possibly as the No. 4 seed. This makes the Big Ten just the second conference in his CFP history to join the SEC where he will have two teams on a single four-team field.

The Buckeyes’ positioning is only questionable as Kansas State gave TCU their first loss of the season. big 12 championship game The Wildcats avenged their regular season loss to the Horned Frogs in overtime.

i believe TCU continues to stay ahead of Ohio But if not, forget the idea that Alabama will rise with Ohio and replace TCU. That would be totally unjust. If TCU’s jersey says “Oklahoma” or Alabama’s jersey says “Ole Miss,” no one can even entertain this point of discussion.

Filling the top of the four-team field, Georgia earned the first seed in the playoffs, First SEC Championship Game win since 2017 In the No. 14 LSU rout, Michigan earned the second seed with that win Second consecutive Big Ten Championship gamethis season at Purdue.

The Rose Bowl features recurring Granddaddy of Them All Pac-12 Champion Utah after winning two consecutive league titles. Penn State will represent the Big Ten in place of league champions Michigan as the highest-ranked Big Ten team not playing in the CFP.

USC needs to stay high enough in the CFP rankings to earn a spot in the Cotton Bowl. That possibility arises because the Big Ten placed his second team in his CFP. Ohio State’s departure from the New Year’s Six general pool has opened the door for the Trojan Horse.

Like Kansas State earlier in the day, Tulane also avenged their regular season loss in the AAC championship game. Green Wave beat UCF 45-28 to win the league crown Major Bowl Games Since 1939 In the 1940 Sugar Bowl, when the undefeated Tulane faced the similarly undefeated Texas A&M. Tulane will represent the Group of Five at this year’s Cotton Bowl with USC.

Speaking of the Wildcats, their Big 12 Championship cements their berth at the Sugar Bowl. Kansas State will replace SEC champion Georgia against Alabama.

New Year’s Six Bowl Game

Buffalo and New Mexico State were the last teams to qualify for the Bowl this week, albeit in different ways. . NMSU was exempt from his NCAA entitlement to participate as his five-win team.

New Mexico State picked up their sixth win over FCS Valparaiso in an added match this weekend, but only one FCS opponent counts, and as NMSU beat Lamar earlier this season, it’s been a long time coming. The exemption bowled Aggie anyway.

Rice will be the only 5-7 team in the rest of the field set this season. That could be as good as the next team, UNLV, fired their coach this week and were considering declining a bid for the Bowl if offered.
