outstanding quotes

at Shaheen Holloway

  • “I am always in favor of a program that hires an alum, especially someone with a proven track record. He loves the place, the community loves him. He has charisma for the position. An outstanding hire.”
  • “He went back to his alma mater where he is loved and knows what the land is like. He is smart, especially when it comes to hiring. And[he]has done something that will never be done again in St. Peter’s, and he’s a really good person.”

About Sean Miller

  • “I’m Travis Steele’s best friend and I hate how it came to be, but Sean is a perfect fit for Xavier. Cincinnatithe state of OhioTough guy, knows the landscape, really good coach. Loved by fans and community. Sometimes all players, schools and fans need is a notion of confidence as they step into the arena. he brings it to people. “
  • “Fearless, doomed to die, one of the best coaches in the game. We have more room to expand our resources.”

About Kevin Willard

  • “What he did at Seton Hall was incredible because it lacked facilities against the backdrop of the old school in the Big East. Now he has all the whistles and bells and he is a tremendous recruiter. Now he has a vast recruiting area and big name locations.I think within 3 years Maryland will win the Big Ten.
  • “Kevin makes no excuses and has proven more or less to be a great coach. He finds overlooked talent and makes them better than anyone in the country. Impressive campus, great location, football ‘s money, and the way he develops his players – look.”

About John Scheer

  • “He’s already locked up the number one recruiting class back-to-back. Anyone who can do that, even in a place like Duke, is a great hire. He’s setting himself up to win big soon.” doing.”
  • “He should be set up to continue his success at Duke. He’s coming in at the right time when Duke haven’t won a national title year after year, so expectations aren’t too high.”

Takeaway

The fact that this question got 20 different answers is wild and evidence that the obvious correct answer is not recognized. Unlike last year, when Texas’ Chris Beard received 61% of the vote..

(Notable: Last year, Tommy Lloyd Arizona Hubert Davis, who was the #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament and led UNC to the NCAA Tournament title game, both received less than 3% of the vote. So things don’t always play out the way coaches and all of us often believe. But I digress. )

If I had been asked to predict the winner of this poll before I actually conducted this poll, I would have answered Duke’s Jon Scheyer. Or maybe I went with Sean Miller on Xavier or Thad Matta on Butler.

That being said, Shaheen Holloway is a perfectly reasonable early vote getter.

Not only did he rob St. Peter – Peacock! — Named an Elite Eight for the 2022 NCAA Tournament after finishing in the top three in the Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference in each of the last three seasons, Holloway is considered a great recruit. , which is also how he seemed to develop a strong culture within the program, and the players seemed to love and respect him so much, so literally attended his introductory press conference at Seton Hall.

it said something to me

It is impossible to know for certain how employment will unfold. Nebraskaof Three years ago, in this poll, Fred Hoiberg received more votes than UCLA’s Mick Cronin and Arkansas’ Eric Musselman. But I’m still looking for my first 11-win season with the Huskers while Cronin makes it to the Final Four and Musselmann hits back-to-back Elite Eights. He’s already done more with less at St. Peter’s and is on the biggest stages in the sport. I suspect he may be next in big business with Seton in his halls, and based on the poll results, a good number of his colleagues agree.
