Checking in on Arizona women’s basketball alumnae in week 2 of the WNBA

2nd week of WNBA I saw many players returning to the United States from overseas teams. As a result, the number of minutes played by some reserve players has shifted slightly. Some more are still back in the US, so more changes will be made next week or two weeks.

Ari McDonald and the Atlanta Dream

After the terrible season last year, Atlanta is one of the hottest teams in the WNBA’s first two weeks. Dream finished the week with a 3-1 record and tied at the top of the WNBA leaderboard. Ari McDonald Unlike her rookie season, she consistently watched quite a bit and played the best games of her professional career.

The week began on Wednesday, May 11th with the Dream Home Opener for the Los Angeles Sparks. Atlanta has postponed LA77-75. McDonald’s saw a play time of just over 17 minutes and scored 7 points with a 2-4 shot. She hit two of the three three-point shots and one of the two free throws. She also had three assists, but she balanced against three turnovers. Point guards also helped one block.

Friday was McDonald’s week’s highest point on an individual level, but her team suffered the only defeat. Dream lost to Las Vegas Aces 96-73, but she had both the most minutes (30:51) and the most points (20) on the team. 20 points was the best career for a second year professional.

McDonald’s went 7 of 11 from the field, including 5 of 7 from the other side of the arc. She added 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block assist. She was one of four dream players who weren’t in the double-digit negative plus or minus territory, even though she was on the floor due to an explosive loss of more than three-quarters. Again, her only problem was sales (5).

McDonald’s followed on Sunday, May 15th with another double-digit scoring performance against Indiana Fever. Dream defeated Fever 85-79 when five Atlanta players scored in double digits.rookie Rhein Howard He led the group with 33 points.

McDonald’s played most of the first half and scored 11 points when he went down the stretch in the fourth quarter.Start point guard Erica Wheeler Having been involved in foul trouble early on, McDonald’s took over the veterinarian and played just over half of the game (23:49).

Arizona graduates went 4 to 6 off the floor and hit one of three three-point shots. Much of her attack came from driving to a successful hoop, as Arizona fans remember. She also hit both free throws for the first time this season after playing one-on-two in each of her first three games.

McDonald’s and dreams Act next Tuesday, May 17th. They play in Indiana again. Another match next week will face Washington Mystics on Friday, May 20th.

Sam Thomas and Phoenix Mercury

Mercury was one of the teams to regain overseas players. This includes off-season acquisitions Diamond Decals And starter Briana Turner.. The team swept the Seattle Storm at Home and Home Week, improving to 2-1 in the season.

Sam Thomas We didn’t have much time this week as the primary rotation players are back. She appeared in the team’s home win against Storm for less than a minute and never appeared in the road game.

But this week I had something to celebrate. Thomas hit her first half-court shot in her practice.

Mercury There are 3 games 3rd week. They will travel to Las Vegas on Tuesday 17th May to play against Ace, return to Phoenix on Thursday 19th May to play Dallas Wings, and return to Las Vegas again on Saturday 21st May.
