It’s a tough card in the NBA on Wednesday, so I’m looking at College Hoops in my article because I’m interested in lots of spots. Two of the big games of the night that really interest me are his UConn in Alabama and Marquette in Arkansas. Baylor has a 1-5 ATS streak and West Virginia has a 0-5 ATS skid. Both of these teams are 0-3 and start conference play on a stacked field. Let’s just say that both sides are desperate to win.
That said, WVU lost all three conference games as a shortdog, while Baylor lost all three games as a favorite. The Bears have two true loads of his games this season where he is 0-2 SU/ATS and needs to move into what should be a hostile environment against a starving team. The Mountaineers have his 7-1 record at home this season. This should be where their offense can finally counter Baylor’s defense slipping away, especially by getting to his line on the free throws. The indicators here are all about the same, so Home helps his team in that situation.
Indiana is in a very tough spot here and comes across a Lions team that may be a little underrated. The Hoosiers went just 1-3 away this season, beating a weak Seton Hall team, and away he scored his ATS with a 0-3 record. Indiana is also 0-2 in pricing as a dog this season.
Penn State is 8-1 at home and 10-1 as a favorite. PSU has struggled a bit lately, losing tough games as underdogs to Michigan and Purdue. Indiana is the perfect opportunity for a home comeback. The Hoosiers have lost 5 of his 8 games, their only real win against Nebraska. Indiana is also left without two key pieces, with both Xavier Johnson and Race Thompson sidelined.
The Tigers are 1-3 on the road so far this season, but they travel to play against very good Knights teams almost everywhere, including an 8-2 record at home. Memphis played impressive basketball about a month ago, beating Auburn and losing to Alabama by one possession in a covered game. However, they haven’t covered since, and though heavy favorites for most of the game, Tulane lost him as a four-point favourite.
UCF continues to play very well, and their most impressive showing came with a tough fight against Houston. The Knights easily covered +15.5 and actually gave Houston the lead late in the game. Darius Johnson is still injured at UCF and that is my only concern. But Jaron Young made up for Johnson’s absence in the previous game very well with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists in 30 minutes.
I favor short house favorites because they have depth you can trust. Dive into the betting split, and even sharp money seems to agree.
My Rhody Rams have been pretty awful this season. I’ll be the first to admit it — I let them fade a few times. Shows some value to the team.
St. Bonaventure have played one of the weakest schedules in the country, but are still trailing 0-5. Again, URIs are nothing special. It sits just 4-4 at home and has some very bad losses. But it would have to be pretty bad for Bonnie to be the Rams’ underdog here.
This has also historically been a difficult location for St. Bonaventure, dropping five consecutive trips to the Ryan Center. This team lost all their best talent on the transfer portal, Sharper money is starting to fade themThe Rams get it done at home.
I helped the Panthers a few times this season, and they’ve done well for us, especially as dogs. Includes 4 straight ups. I think it would be too difficult to ask for an outright win on Duke, but this should remain his single-digit game.
The Panthers have been a perfect 4-0 ATS in road games so far, and Duke has been struggling lately. Most of the Blue Devils’ struggles occurred during the trip, but a meager one-point victory over a team like Boston College shows how poorly this team is playing. Duke is very young and should have veteran point guard Jeremy Roach on the floor, but Roach is expected not to appear in this game. Pittsburgh has suffered a tough loss to Clemson and will need to focus to keep this game within reach.
I like a lot of the games on this board, but it’s scary. But after combing through them, I think Xavier’s is my favorite spot. — 0-3 SU/1-2 ATS with odd cover in Texas.
Xavier was great at home, losing 8-1 to Indiana by a very early margin. The Blue Jays stole several home wins after the season started to go downhill, but all against much less competition. , has spread one or less possessions in each of their last three games, winning them all. This included a home win against UConn, showing just how strong the home court advantage can be in this situation. With a body to match, I think X will pull away here.
