College basketball picks, schedule: Predictions against the spread, odds for SEC-Big 12 Challenge 2023

Saturday is likely to be one of the most intense days of the college basketball season so far this season, with the annual SEC/Big 12 Challenge, the weekend’s flagship event. The action kicks in early and runs through the night, culminating in the Kansas 9 game in Kentucky at 8 PM ET as they polish the slate.

The Big 12 is rated the best conference in college hoops this season after being #1 in last season’s ratings, but the SEC has fallen short of its final two challenges after being forced to draw in the 2019 series. Having won each, we have some bragging rights over the weekend. 20. The Big 12 have maintained a 4-3 dominance in the event since the start of 2013-14 (he has had two years the league has tied) with an overall record of 48. vs 41. However, SEC continues to be challenging in this event, with some lucrative matchups that could be the first league since the Big 12 three-peated in his first three years.

Our experts have their picks and predictions for the day’s biggest games here.

Odds by Caesars Sportsbook | Always Eastern

Featured games | | West Virginia Mountaineers vs. Auburn Tigers

12pm | ESPN, Hubo TV (Try it for free) — Start predicting with an upset pick! Auburn is a fierce bunch that can play both inside and out via Wendell Green and Johnny Bloom. West Virginia is tough out, especially in Morgantown, but Talent I think the Tigers can win this close game and pull off an upset in the first game of the day. Prediction: Auburn +4 — Boone

Featured games | | Oklahoma Sooners vs. Alabama Crimson Tide

2 p.m. | ESPN, Hubo TV (Try it for free) – Alabama has blown away some really good teams in the sport this season — among them kentucky, Missouri When Michigan — but I think the OU is closing this. The Crimson Tide team has been undefeated since mid-December, but has lost several times in recent tours. Their depth at Sooners and Home keeps it tight and within numbers. Prediction: Oklahoma +6 — Boone

Featured games | | LSU Tigers vs. Texas Tech Red Raiders

2pm | ESPNU, Hubo TV (Try it for free) – With LSU on a seven-game losing streak and Texas Tech on an eight-game losing streak, on paper it looks like an even matchup for struggling teams. But while the Red Raiders were at least competitive during that period, the Tigers were blown out in their final four games averaging 24.8 points per game. . Prediction: Texas Tech -3 — Boone

Featured games | | Missouri Tigers vs. Iowa State Cyclones

2pm | ESPN2, Hubo TV (Try it for free) – Here the match between ISU and Mizzou was almost even. Very good defense from the Cyclones and very good offense from the Tigers. The only loss Missouri has lost on their home floor this season Kansas It’s Alabama, so if I can get a point for the home team, I’ll take it. Prediction: Missouri +1.5 — Boone

Featured games | | Mississippi State Bulldog vs. TCU Horned Frog

4pm | ESPN2, Hubo TV (Try it for free) – This TCU team has double-digit wins against Kansas and OU, and hopes to keep going against the bottom SEC clubs. The Bulldogs have remained competitive even though an 11-0 start dropped to his 12-8 record, so I think this is close, but the horned he’s hot here with the Frogs. riding on the hand Prediction: TCU -2 — Boone

Featured games | | Baylor Bears vs. Arkansas Razorbacks

4 p.m. | ESPN, Hubo TV (Try it for free) – DaVonte Davis has emerged as a differentiator for Arkansas with Ricky Council IV dropping a bit and overall No. 1 Nick Smith Jr. still sidelined with a knee injury. But this Arkansas backcourt led the backcourt trio of Baylor and its 3-Waco Keyyonte George, LJ Cryer and Adam Flagler. This guy has two teams in opposite directions, so I’ll take a look at the team that has been booming lately. Prediction: Baylor -6 — Boone

Featured games | | Tennessee Volunteers vs. Texas Longhorns

6 p.m. | ESPN, Hubo TV (Try it for free) – Another upset pick. I think this could be the best game of the weekend, Texas has a top-shelf offense against Tennessee his team built around a #1 defense. My concern is whether the Vols have the horses to keep up with his Horns. Tennessee hasn’t had that problem lately, but this Texas team is built to be able to pull off this win even at the road spot. Forecast: Texas +7.5 — Boone

Featured games | | Kansas State Wildcats vs. Florida Gators

6pm | ESPN2, Hubo TV (Try it for free) – Kansas State is undefeated at home all season under first-year coach Jerome Tan. That streak doesn’t end this weekend as Florida plunges into the Doomsday Octagon. Wildcats are still 8-3 ATS at home this season, so I like to put the numbers with them here. Forecast: Kansas -5 — Boone

No. 9 Kansas at Kentucky

Featured games | | Kentucky Wildcats vs. Kansas Jayhawks

8 p.m. | ESPN, Hubo TV (Try it for free) – One of the most compelling elements of the Kentucky-Kansas matchup is how KU’s diminutive approach on the front court will pit him against Britain’s interior monster Oscar Zibwe. Britain has become more flexible and versatile defensively with the role of petite point guard Sirville his Wheeler being reduced, but the Wildcats will be back in Alabama on January 7. Kansas has not attacked as dynamically since it was set on fire. The grouping to pull Tshiebwe out of the basket and force Kentucky to guard him one-on-one from him dribbling players like Jalen Wilson, Grady Dick and Kevin McCullar could be a long night for Britain. I have. Prediction: Kansas +1 — David Cobb

Featured games | | Oklahoma State Cowboys vs. Ole Miss Rebels

8pm | ESPN2, Hubo TV (Try it for free) – This Oklahoma State team could be a mean Second Weekend team that can play inside and out with veteran guard play and big pairs that make the difference between Caribbean Boone and Musa Cisse. I like how Poke pulls this off with something close. Prediction: Ole Miss +10 — Boone
