College basketball schedules 2022-23: Teams with the easiest slates this season

Every year there is a college basketball team that is actively scheduling non-conferences. And every year there are teams that do the exact opposite.today, then Emphasize the former at the beginning of the week, Emphasize the latter.

Each of the five teams that qualified for our list is a team within the Power Conference structure. As such, they may be tempted to put up a tough schedule outside of conferences with ample opportunity to prove their merits in conference play.

But hey we can’t take these teams down that Easy. You schedule the software, we will notify you.

This list consists solely of my subjective views on scheduling. It’s not based on the strength of the schedule metrics, it doesn’t take into account pre-season voting, and the particular venue of the game doesn’t really matter. Awareness and how loose or strong that schedule is.

that’s all.

Let’s dive right in.

Non-meeting highlights

  • vs No. 16 VillanovaNovember 24
  • and IowaDecember 8
  • Missouri on January 28th

Non-meeting highlights

schedule idea: Aside from the annual rivalry game against Iowa, the only real spectacle of this non-conference slate will be Neutral vs. Villanova and Home Tilt vs. Villanova on November 24th. St. John’s 10 days later. The rest is just bad. Five of his 10 games have been against teams ranked 320th or below. ken pom dot comincluding IUPUI, whom KenPom predicts as the worst team in the college hoops last season, are dead in the final 363rd.

schedule idea: Under Patrick Ewing, Georgetown plans soft for years. And what about this season? Well, it doesn’t matter. Big 12-Big East’s battle against No. 25 Texas Tech is the only saving grace here. This is the only team in even the AP’s preseason top 25 polls to generate votes on the Hoyas’ non-conference schedule. It’s probably going to be an ugly season regardless of the Hoyas, but the non-conference slate is just as ugly.

3. Texas Tech

Non-meeting highlights

  • Against No.9 claytonNovember 21 Maui Invitational
  • v Georgetown, Nov. 30
  • and LSUsJanuary 28

Non-meeting highlights

schedule idea: Only half of Texas Tech’s 10 non-conference opponents had a win record last season, excluding Clayton plus an extra game at the Maui Invitational. (Just for the sake of being undecided as to who they’ll face beyond the Blue Jays. Clayton — those opponents are: quite below .500 too: totaled 52-101 in 2021-22. It’s always possible to change a little, maybe a lot, but most of these matchups are scheduled auto-Ws and Tech should easily roll him in double digits.

schedule idea: Mizzou’s top matchup on the non-conference slate avoids ranking #1 on this list, but… it’s certainly a close second. Outside of the Big 3 of Wichita State, Kansas, and Illinois, only his one team, the Tigers, is ranked in the top 100 in his KenPom’s season opener.

Non-meeting highlights

  • versus. BYUDecember 17
  • versus. TCUDecember 21

Non-meeting highlights

schedule idea: Pac-12’s volatile schedule begins with conference games in December, then pauses until the end of December. Arizona December 1st, on deck. But trust me. that’s not decent. This schedule is not very strict. Aside from testing against BYU and TCU, they need to win by an average of 10, 15, maybe 20 points per game, not just out-of-league play.

and 1: LSU

Non-meeting highlights

  • versus. wake forestDecember 10
  • vs. No. 25 Texas Tech, Jan. 28

Non-meeting highlights

schedule idea: LSU’s opening slate in SEC play is lovely Loaded – which is to say, seriously, it’s downright evil – but the prelude to non-conference play is quite the opposite. , WoffordThis is an unsuitable schedule for a major conference player like LSU.
