An FBS team must win at least 6 wins with a minimum winning percentage of .500 to be officially bowl qualified.A total of 82 teams are required to fill all 41 bowl games. A team can only count his one win against his FCS opponent towards the total number of wins required to qualify for the Bowl.
There are officially 81 bowl-qualified teams, with one slot still open, following the conference championship game in Week 14. It is taken by 5-7 Rice via APR eligibility. New Mexico State University, also a five-win team, received an exemption from the NCAA to play in bowl games.
