In five action-packed days, the first week of the 2022 college football season is all you can handle with high-scoring incidents, upsets and statements highlighted by preseason favorites in pursuit of a CFP berth. It brought wild results and madness. Let’s turn our attention to the second week. Week 2 will be centered around one of the most anticipated matchups of the entire season, as the day kicks off.

Leaders Alabama beat Utah 55-0 and are on their way to face Texas. Texas, meanwhile, led by redshirt freshman quarterback Quinn Ewers, his 52-10 win over Louisiana was impressive in itself. Monroe. The match provides an opportunity for coach Steve Sarkisian and his program to show that they are ready to compete at a high level, but Bama and Nick Saban made a statement of their own in tough road conditions. It’s a daunting task, considering that you’re trying to… the redemption tour continues.

No. 24 Tennessee will also face No. 17 Pittsburgh. This two-man was one of last season’s Game of the Year him, with the Panthers winning 41-34 for him during the ACC title-winning campaign. Volunteers go out for revenge as they continue their quest to declare themselves a legitimate challenger to Georgia in the SEC East.

The evening window features a Top 20 matchup between SEC foes No. 12 Florida and No. 20 Kentucky. The Gators sent waves across the country in an upset at the time. 7 Utah last weekend behind quarterback Anthony Richardson’s breakout performance to get the Billy Napier era off to an impressive start. Traveling to Stanford in search of a -12 victory, they showed dominance in their season opener win over Rice in Week 1.

No. 1 Alabama at Texas

Featured games | | Texas Longhorns vs Alabama Crimson Tide

noon | fox, Hubo TV (Try it for free) – Texas is one of the few teams in the country that I believe can move the ball and score points against Alabama’s defense, but it’s hard to convince me to score points with the Longhorns. Not Enough. The problem Texas had last season wasn’t with the offensive side of the ball. That’s a defense that allows him 31 points per game, and we need to see more than a strong performance last week against one of the worst teams in the country (ULM) before we can trust him. Plus, QB Quinn Ewers may be a great player one day, but he’s still in his freshman year and starting his second career. The Alabama defense he will see this weekend is playing a different sport than the one he saw last week, when he makes one or two of his mistakes that hurt the Longhorns. It’s not hard to imagine. Prediction: Alabama -20 — Tom Forneri

Colorado Air Force

3:30 p.m. | CBS, CBSSports.com, CBS Sports App There’s little doubt that the Air Force will win the game, but covering the 18-point line is a big challenge. For example, in his eight conference games last season, the Falcons only covered twice that spread. Terrible he is against the UNLV and New He Mexican teams. The Air Force’s offense looks even better in his 2022, but Colorado does enough offensively to keep the final score respectable. Prediction: Colorado +18 — Shehan Jeyaraja

No. 24 Tennessee vs No. 17 Pittsburgh

3:30 PM | ABC, Hubo TV (Try it for free) – These teams scored a total of 75 points last season in Pittsburgh’s 41-34 win over Tennessee. Pittsburgh’s offense has been a slower operation than last season, but the Panthers scored more in Week 1 against West Virginia, where he won 38-31. The Volunteers have only improved offensively since last season’s meeting and are certainly not known defensively. Look for many points to score. Expected: 65.5 or higher — David Cobb

No. 20 Kentucky vs. No. 12 Florida

Featured games | | Florida Gators vs. Kentucky Wildcats

7 p.m. | ESPN, Hubo TV (Try it for free) – I’m confident Florida will win the game, but I don’t like the spread numbers. If the Gators win on a field goal, the Wildcats will cover and this could be a one-possession game in the 4th quarter. That’s why I’m going with a total under. In a close game, both teams might play a little tighter and score lower. Prediction: less than 52.5 — Chip Patterson

10th USC at Stamford

Featured games | | Stanford Cardinal vs. USC Trojans

7:30 PM | ABC, Hubo TV (Try it for free) – Lincoln Riley’s program has fallen short of expectations, and for good reason. The Trojans are his Pac-12 team’s last remaining intact from the preseason AP Top 25, and he is one of the few coaches in the sport to reach the playoffs multiple times. Stanford is miserable and should improve after 2021, but it’s unlikely USC will miss the chance to make its first statement on the national stage. Prediction: USC -9 — Jeyaraja
