Week 2’s schedule looks, for the most part, less exciting than the results we see on the field: the wire on the road as the 20-point favorite. But now that all the dust has settled, the photo above looks sharper than ever. That photo paints the Georgia Bulldogs as the best team in the country.

Georgia overtakes Alabama for the number one spot in the latest edition of CBS Sports 131, a comprehensive ranking of all FBS teams. Our voters, a group made up of college football professionals from CBS Sports and 247Sports, pushed Georgia to his No. 2 spot in Ohio after the Bulldogs’ impressive season-opening victory over Oregon. I was. Georgia’s journey to No. 1 is complete after the Crimson Tide’s 20-19 victory over Texas on Saturday.

Alabama’s reaction to a near-upset at Longhorn’s hands nearly cost them two spots in the rankings. The Crimson Tide and Ohio State put him in third place by a very thin margin. Michigan and Oklahoma were next in 4th place respectively and he was 5th, the next team, USC moved up his four spots and he finished 6th at Stanford win.

Kentucky made one big move within the top 25, moving up 13 places to 10th after a road win in Florida. Notable are the notable drops of Notre Dame (from No. 8 to his No. 40) and Texas A&M (from No. 7 to No. 33), but of course these upsets are Marshall’s (up from No. 39). biggest mover

  • No. 32 Marshall (+39): Charles Huff proclaimed Marshall’s plan to become one of the best teams in the league with an upset win at Notre Dame, leading the Thundering Hurds hard into the program’s Sunbelt era.
  • No. 29 Washington State (+33): The Cougars went to the Wisconsin home and beat the Badgers with their own style of game. Now, with a big 2-0 road victory, Washington State will be an attractive addition to his Pac-12 pinnacle.
  • No. 25 Appalachia (+19): A 63-61 home loss to North Carolina and a 17-14 upset away victory over Texas A&M is an odd profile. However, it is certain that this team does not belong outside the top 30 after demonstrating their ability to compete against Power Five competition in both high-scoring shootouts and low-scoring defenses.
  • No.8 BYU (+13): BYU quarterback Jaren Hall, who beat the top two receivers, found a way to play enough to lead the Cougars to a 26-20 double overtime victory over Baylor. Next, he traveled to Eugene for his test on the road with Oregon State, a big challenge for his BYU status as he newly minted as one of the top his teams in the country.
  • 10. Kentucky (+13): The Wildcats defense has all the answers to Anthony Richardson, claiming to be the second best team in the SEC East with a hard-hitting road win in Florida.
  • No. 37 Wisconsin (-23): Wisconsin’s preseason ranking was based on the belief that it would be another consistent year for the Badgers. But with a home loss to Washington State and a win to live up to FBS’s name, ‘consistency’ alone won’t be enough to rank Wisconsin among the top 30 teams in mid-September. .
  • No. 33 Texas A&M (-26): Across two games, there’s little to be excited about for Texas A&M. This team is still talented and has a defense that will allow the Aggies to remain competitive against even the toughest SEC opponents. But until the offense starts to find its rhythm, it’s going to be very difficult to think of Texas A&M as a serious threat to win that division.
  • No. 40 Notre Dame (-32): A 0-2 start and a banging quarterback puts Notre Dame in a difficult position to look ahead to the rest of the schedule, which includes three teams currently ranked in the top 10 of CBS Sports 131 (USC, Clemson, BYU) is placed.
