Stay tuned for the next AP Top 25 College Football Rankings as the dust settles around Saturday’s latest game
Note: This is not a ranking of the best teams, but a prediction of how the top 25 voters will participate in the official vote.
25. UTSA (8-2). With a 51-7 sweep of Louisiana Tech, the Roadrunners are in perfect 6-0 form in the conference game and could move into outside contention for the New Year’s Bowl.
24. Cincinnati (8-2). Ben Bryant had a close win over East Carolina, had two TD passes, and Cynthie is currently tied for first in the AAC, but lost to UCF and faced Tulane in the finale, which is enough to make the rankings.
23. Texas (6-4). With four losses to date, the Longhorns are at risk of dropping out of the top 25 in the rankings entirely, but voters see them in this week’s poll given their win over K-State and their close matchup with top-ranked TCU. may be maintained.
22. Illinois (7-3). Once the clear favorite in the Big Ten West, the Illini need to figure things out before this season spirals out of control and begins with a two-game losing streak, home to Purdue and next in Michigan.
21. Florida (7-3). Expect the Seminoles to stay in the rankings after a 35-point win in Syracuse and a week after a 42-point decision against Miami.
20. Kansas (7-3). Adrian Martinez is dealing with injuries again, but Will Howard looks great in the reserves, throwing three TD passes in a big win over Baylor.
19. Tulane (8-2). A golden opportunity to retain the No. 1 spot in the AAC went up in smoke as the green wave got off to a slow start and failed to recover in time against UCF at home.
18. UCF (8-2). A strong performance by John Rhys Plumee rushing the ball helped unsettle Tulane on the road, and the two now share first place in the AAC with Cincinnati, who beat Tulane as UCF beat them.
17. Notre Dame (7-3). Even though the Middies finished in the fourth quarter, it would still give Ireland a fourth straight win after beating Navy. BC is next before going to USC for the finale.
16. Washington (8-2). Michael Pennix hit 74% of his pitches with two touchdowns and knocked Oregon out of the College Football Playoffs in a game in which the Huskies had over 1,000 total offensive yards.
15. Pennsylvania (8-2). With a 30-point win over Maryland at home, the Nittany Lions achieved their first shutout since the 2019 win over Terps. The road to 10 wins is still there.
14. North Carolina (9-1). Another close match with Wake, but a win put the Tar Heels 6-0 on the road, clinching Coastal and facing Clemson in the ACC Championship Game. That might be enough to jump Penn State University in the rankings.
13. Utah. vs Stanford, late
12. Olemis (8-2). Quinshon Judkins was able to go for over 100 yards and two touchdowns to beat the Rebs to Bama, but his last second chance fumbled on 4th down.
11. Oregon (8-2). Say goodbye to the college football playoffs, Dax. Thanks to Washington’s aggressive aerial attacks and some questionable closing maneuvers, Oregon dropped out of his race to the playoffs. So could Pac-12.
10. Clemson (9-1). It’s a nice bounce for the Tigers at home to Louisville (without Malik Cunningham) to earn a spot in the ACC Championship Game. Keep winning and the College Football Playoff could easily creep within reach.
9. Alabama (8-2). It was a close all day at Ole Miss, but the Tide’s front 7 froze in time to hold the Rebels to 7 points in the second half, stopping Jackson Dart’s potential winner on 4th down and Bama still good. It’s likely we’re having a new year…that future bowl.
8. UCLA. vs. Arizona, end game
7. USC (9-1). Blowing through Colorado at home would be as easy a gig as the current Pac-12, but the Trojans lost veteran running back Travis Dye to a leg injury. Not ideal as the title of the meeting gets heated.
6.LSU (8-2). A stunning individual effort from Harold Perkins and a close win on the road at Arkansas aided by Alabama’s win at Ole Miss capped off the SEC West in Brian Kelly’s first year at the Bayou. rice field.
5. Tennessee (9-1). Big Orange has dropped more than 120 points in Missouri over the past two years, including 66 in Hendon Hooker’s final home game at the Rocky Top on Saturday, a potential ranking upset. remains available.
4. TCU (10-0). The Frogs did it on defense this week on a road trip in Texas. As an underdog, he won his first 10 games in a season since 2010 and booked his game dates in the Big 12 Championship.
3. Michigan (10-0). Blake Colm ran for over 100 yards and scored a touchdown in seven straight games as the Wolverines handled Nebraska and remained undefeated.
2. Ohio (10-0). An easy win at home to Indiana paid the price after No. 2 running back Miyan Williams was sidelined with an injury and returned in walking boots. The team has dealt with injuries throughout the season.
1. Georgia (10-0) College football’s defending national champion handled business on the road to Mississippi, rounded out the East, and set up a date with LSU in the SEC championship game, but waiting for the Bulldogs in the first place was only a matter of time. Two games.
