Damian Lillard To Sign Two-Year Extension With Blazers

Several other reporters have confirmed the news. Yahoo Sports Chris HaynesMark J. Andscape’s Spear (twitter Link), And ESPN’s Bobby Marks (twitter Link).

According to Spears, Lillard is expected to put a pen on paper tomorrow night in Las Vegas, where the Summer League is currently taking place. As part of the extension, Lillard will select the player options he held on 2024/25, Marks says.

As Marks broadcasts, Lillard’s New Deal includes a ’26 / 27 player option, so he has signed a contract for at least four seasons and has a player option in the fifth year. Lillard will be 32 next week, so the extension will go through at least his 35-year-old season.

Some reports have stated that Lillard’s transactions are worth $ 120 million, but they are estimates based on salary caps that increase significantly over time.

Lillard receives at least a 5% salary increase on a 24/25 year salary ($ 48,787,676), so the extension is worth more than $ 106.55MM. His maximum possible raise is 20%, in which case the extension is worth $ 121.78MM. However, the salary cap needs to be $ 167.3MM for him to get that full 20% salary increase. This is a significant increase over the previous year. This season’s cap is $ 123,655,000.

Lillard suffered an injury last season and played 29 games (36.4 MPG) with an average of 24.0 PPG, 4.1 RPG and 7.3 APG with .402 / .324 / .878 shots. Both his field goal and three-point rates were low careers, so apparently an abdominal injury (surgery required and shut down early in the season) hindered production on his court.

Prior to the 21/22 injury struggle, Lillard was a solid performer in Portland and rarely missed the game, averaging at least 35.5 MPG in each of the 10 seasons. Lillard has been nominated six times for both the All-Star and All-NBA teams in his career, all of which is spent at the Blazers.
