In the wake of a traumatic physical event Draymond Green and Jordan Poole Quarrel At Warriors practice Thursday, many began speculating about Green’s future with the team.
On Friday’s episode of “NBA Countdown,” ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith discussed the incident and explained why the veteran forward’s future with his team isn’t as secure as it once was.
“I don’t think it’s shaking, I don’t think it’s as safe as it used to be, but it’s not because of incidents like this that things like this happen… The unstable ground comes from this reality. ,” said Smith. “Over the past four years, Draymond Green has averaged less than double digits in scoring and rebounding and shot less than 30% from 3-point range.・I’m going to play against the Warriors, it’s loaded so I know what this is.”
Green is under contract with Golden State this season and has a player option for the 2023-24 NBA season before becoming an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2024.It’s summer but not much traction and the greens showed up Ready to bet on myself this season.
Smith believes signing Green has played into his volatile relationship with the team.
“At the end of the day, the precarious situation he’s in is that he’s receiving $25 million and has a $27 million player option next year,” Smith explained. “You’re the Golden State Warriors and you know he’s asking for big bucks for a long term extension and you’re like, ‘What can he do at his 34, 35, 36, etc.’ You’re going to ask yourself, that’s the way they look at him and look at the personnel.
“So what he has to do, that bravery he showed against Jordan Poole, he has to show it against the opposition, and show the Golden State Warriors how much he deserves. We have to step up his play offensively to remind him. He’s defensive.”
There is a rumor that green Wouldn’t hesitate to leave Warriors In the near future, if he does, Smith believes the former Defensive Player of the Year should partner with good friend and fellow Clutch Sports client LeBron James.
