Eight Eagles Invited to USA Hockey Women’s National Festival

Colorado Springs, Colorado – Eight members of the Boston University Women’s Hockey Program were invited to the 2022 USA Hockey Women’s National Festival in Buffalo, NY, as announced by USA Hockey on Tuesday.

Current Eagle Skeletons, Hannah Birka, Kelly Brown When Abigail Lewy At the National Festival in Buffalo from August 8th to 13th, we will be attending Alex Carpenter ’16, Kyle Keller ’19, Megan Keller ’19 and Emily Mathieson ’15.

The National Festival is an annual event in USA Hockey that brings together top female players from the United States, from U18 levels to the national team. This year, the camp will select a list of 23 players to compete in the IIHF Women’s World Championships in Herning, Denmark, as well as a list of 23 players consisting of the current College Select Team and U18 list. Used for (US Under-18 Select Team) will face Canada in a three-game series in Calgary.

Redshirt senior Burns spent the past season as a member of the US Women’s National Team, which won the silver medal at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China. Up-and-coming senior Birka was the Hockey East First Team All-Star this past season after scoring 33 points with her career’s best 16 goals and 17 assists. Levy, who participated in the USA Hockey Goalkeeper Camp in May, led the country with 1,143 saves during the 2021-22 season, finishing 11th in the nation with a .932 save rate. Brown led the Eagles from 2021 to 2010, scoring 34 points out of 10 goals and 24 assists, the best of his career. The captain also led BC, ranking second in 389 confrontation wins in Hockey East, the first in the BC forward, and sixth overall with 27 block shots, the best of his career. Brown made his senior national team debut in December 2019.

Burns, Keller, and Carpenter were members of the US Olympic team, who recently won the silver medal at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing and the silver medal at the latest World Championships in August 2021. Flanagan was part of 27-. Prior to the 2022 Winter Olympics, we created a list of player centralization and played in two games on the MyWhy Tour. Massison is a member of the 2019-20 Rival Series roster and has been nominated for the 2020 II HF Women’s World Championship roster canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mathieson, Keller, Burns and Flanagan were members of the US team that won the gold medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics.
