Here are the five points earned from winning the exhibition with the Cougars.

Indiana was without Jackson-Davis in the exhibition Saturday against Marian.

With a lap on his right hand, Jackson-Davis returned on Thursday and was dominant. Center Grove’s product led Indiana with 19 points in 21 minutes. He shot 6/8 from the field. Most impressively, Jackson-Davis achieved his 7/8 off his throw his line free. Jackson His Davis is a career 67% free throw shooter and getting his 70% should be his goal this season.

On the defensive end, Jackson Davis had two shots and five defensive rebounds. Both are team-best ties. No details were released about the severity of his right hand injury, but it did not affect his effectiveness.

Jalen Hood-Schifino continues to impress

The game was a pointless exhibition, but Hood-Schifino was Indiana’s most impressive player to date.

The Montverde Academy’s 5-star guard had 15 points, 5 assists, 2 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot in 22 minutes against St. Francis.

Hood-Schifino was an efficient 6-of-8 off the field, making all three of his three-point attempts. The 6-foot-6 guard is running a point when Xavier Johnson goes to the bench and he’s effective. In the two exhibitions, Hoodschiffino recorded nine assists while only he recorded three turnovers.

After last season, it was clear Indiana needed better playmakers in the backcourt. Replacing Rob Phinisee and Parker Stewart with his Hood-Schifino has proven to be a huge upgrade.

Malik Renault offers key production off the bench

Renault came off the bench on Thursday night with the return of Jackson Davis. This is a role he will have to accept, with Jackson-Davis and Race Thompson ahead of him on the depth chart.

In addition to their impressive performance against Marian, Renault had another productive night against St Francis.

The 6-foot-9 lefty made 7 of 8 field goal attempts and finished with 15 points. He had 8 rebounds, 4 assists and blocked 2 shots in 20 minutes. did.

Tamar Bates Appears at First Exhibition

After missing the first exhibition game, sophomore Tamar Bates got the floor on Thursday.

The left-handed guard scored in double figures with 10 points on 5/10 shooting. The 10 field goal attempts from Bates were a team-high. Bates missed both three-point attempts.

At times, Bates seemed like the sort of player to shake off the rust of time loss. He took deep 3-pointers from the right wing in the first half and didn’t draw an iron. Most of the points scored by Bates were due to uncontested appearances at the rim.

“Tamer has been one of the most consistent guys on this journey since we’ve been together,” Mike Woodson said after the game. I had an accident and it was slowing him down, so I’m glad he’s back.”

To realize the breakout potential Bates has predicted this season, he will need to be more consistent from the perimeter. As a freshman, he made his 57 3-point attempts, and the success rate was just 29.8% for him.

Caleb Banks and Logan Duncombe out

Thursday would have been a good time for Banks and Duncombe to get a rep on the game situation. Duncombe played very little last season and Banks is a freshman.

Unfortunately, illness sidelined both players. About an hour before tip-off, they both came out of his locker room to warm up in his sweat suits.

The State of Indiana issued the following statement shortly before providing the information: “His sophomore center Logan in Indiana Duncombe (ill) and his freshman forward Caleb Banks (ill) will be out of action tonight against St. Francis.”
