Fayetteville, Ark. – Arkansas offensive lineman Ricky Stromberg, defensive back Jalen Catalon, linebacker bumper pool and offensive lineman Brady Latham join the pre-season All-SEC team on Friday morning. I was nominated.
Stromberg, who won the first team’s honor at the center, fixed Arkansas’s attack line last season, started all 13 games and stopped the attack, so all schools with power 5 rushed to an average of 227.8 yards per game. Mansfield, Texas, finished eighth in the team with a total tackle (46) and lost 1.5 tackles, despite playing in just six games. His four pass breakups were the third most common tie in the Razorbacks.
The pool was a linebacker and won the honor of the second team. Lucas, Texas, led Hoggs with a total tackle of 125 (45 solos), recording a total of over 100 tackles for the second consecutive year. He is one of the best tackle machines in college football, the second most stop (320) of all FBS defenders since 2019, and 349 career tackles in his name (9th in Arkansas). Latham, who gained third-team recognition in the offensive line, started all 13 games, mainly in line with the left guard. Jenks, Oklahoma played with 890 snaps, held an 81.7 pass-blocking grade throughout the season, and posted seven games with a pass-blocking grade of 80.0 or higher, according to Pro Football Focus. Blocking with the prestigious Stromberg of his fellow All-SEC team, he helped the four razorbacks lead the way at least 500 yards in a hurry.
Meanwhile, Razorbucks was ranked 3rd in the SEC West and won 1st place. Under head coach Sam Pittman, Arkansas won nine games in 2021. This is the team’s highest ranking since 2011. Checking in at 21st place in the final College Football Playoff Rankings, Arkansas’s highest-ever ranking from the Commission, ending the season in the Top 25 for the first time since the launch of CFP in 2014.
