Four teams have multiple players on Wooden Award list

South Carolina, Stanford, Iowa and UConn all have multiple players on the Wood Awards Midseason Top 25 list for the 2022-23 women’s college basketball season.

The Gamecocks Aaliyah Bostonlast season’s wooden winner headlined the midseason list released Wednesday. Gia Cook (also on the midseason list) led the No. 1 Gamecocks to a national championship last season and a 14-0 record this year.

Four sophomores — at UConn Aji Fad,Notre Dame Olivia MilesLSU angel wreath and depaul’s Aneetha Morrow — Included as well as Iowa Jr. Kaitlyn Clark.

Twenty-one of the 25 players were in the top 50 in the preseason. UConn’s Aaliyah EdwardsMichigan Emily KaiserFlorida Tanya Latson and in Utah Alyssa Piri Mark only newcomers. Latson is a three-time winner of the ACC’s Player of the Week award and all-time Rookie of the Year winner in the conference.

Many Top Players — Including Indiana’s Fudd Grace Burger,Ohio Jaycee Sheldon and in NC diamond johnson – Missed due to injury. The status of the other players is unknown, but Fudd has returned to basketball and could play for the Huskies as early as this week.

The wooden prize will be announced on April 7th.
