Freeman Named to Preseason Watch List

Eugene, Oregon – goalie Leah Freeman She was one of 12 players nationally named to United Soccer Coaches’ Women’s Goalkeeper Watch List on Friday.

First Team All-Pac-12 and All-Pacific Region selection led Pac-12 and tied at 15th Freeman ranked third in the league last season in both goals average (0.87) and save percentage (.839). She also set her 449:59 clean sheet streak, the second longest in the show’s history. This included her four straight shutouts for Portland, Portland State, UCLA and California.

The Berkeley, Calif., junior has been named Pac-12 Player of the Week twice as he goes 8-4-3 on net in 2021. One of them after he had six saves in his 0-0 shutout at UCLA No. 3. She was one of her two goalies to shut out the Bruins in 2021.

In his two years in Oregon, Freeman already ranks fourth all-time in UO shutouts (14), sixth in wins (13) and eighth in saves (140). She also has four school records: shutouts in one season (9, 2021), lowest goals against average (0.74, 2020), lowest goals allowed (12, 2020), and no scoring streak (471: 54, 2020).

Three of the 12 players on the 2022 list were from the Pac-12, joining Freeman as UCLA’s Lauren Brzykcy and Washington State’s Nadia Cooper.

The Ducks will kick off the 2022 season with an exhibition with Corban at Puppe Field next Friday at 7pm.
