Hakeem Olajuwon’s blocked shot denied the Knicks a championship on this date in 1994

Akeem Olajuwon overturned a three-point attempt at John Starks’ buzzer. His block maintained the Houston Rockets’ 86-84 home victory over the New York Knicks in Game 6. Houston’s victory forced Game 7.

Orajwon 30 points, 10 rebounds, 4 block shots.

Knicks dragged in half 46-36, but Starks got hot in the second half and led the comeback. He had 27 points and eight assists in the game. He also went 5-9 at three points. He seemed to look closely at the buzzer, but Orajwon used his long reach to shatter the dream of the New York title.

Patrick Ewing finished with 17 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks, but struggled with efficiency. He went 6-20 in a field goal attempt.

Olajuwon and Ewing fought each other in all series, but Olajuwon got the best of Ewing in Game 6.

Rockets won Round 7, 90-84. Orajwon was selected as the final MVP.
