The NBA’s off-season has proven not to be boring.
Within 3 weeks Golden State Warriors Winning the 7th NBA Championship, some of the most flashy stars have heard their names called in the 2022 NBA Draft. Meanwhile, countless veterans have shaken the sports world with free agents.
Now it’s time to meet the up-and-coming people of the league.
The NBA is back this week to play in the 2022 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.
That’s all you need to know before the 11-day event.
What is the NBA Summer League?
The NBA Summer League is an 11-day off-season tournament with 75 games, usually held in July. This allows players and teams to experiment with different lineups, with particular emphasis on rookie, bench players, and members of the relevant G League team.
Where is the NBA Summer League?
The NBA Summer League began in Orlando, where the tournament was held from 2002 to 2017 (2007 and 2011 omitted). Over time, the team began choosing to head to Las Vegas for a rival tournament. By 2018, the Orlando Pro Summer League had closed its doors and all attention had moved west.
In addition to the Las Vegas League, which features all 30 teams, Utah Jazz and Sacramento Kings each host their own mini-tournaments prior to official events, but regular tournaments in Sacramento have become a new place this year.
The Salt Lake City Summer League dates back to 1984, with some changes to the current format in which four teams face each other in six games over three days.

When is the NBA Summer League?
Precursor tournaments are already underway in San Francisco and Salt Lake City, but major production is expected to begin Thursday, July 7, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The dates for each of the three tournaments are as follows:
- California Classic (San Francisco, CA)-July 2-5
- Salt Lake City Summer League (Salt Lake City, Utah)-July 5-7
- NBA 2k23 Summer League (Las Vegas)-July 7-17

Who will be in the NBA Summer League?
There are no strict rules about who coaches and who front offices play in the NBA Summer League, but don’t expect to find your favorite All-Star. In fact, it can be difficult to find one starter or veteran player.
The Summer League is usually reserved for newcomers, sophomores, and G-League players. Occasionally, a team in the midst of reconstruction with many young talents defends their best players, but most people don’t want to risk injury in the game without importance during the season.
How many teams will participate in the NBA Summer League?
All 30 teams will be in Las Vegas this week.
What is the format of the NBA Summer League?
All 30 teams will play in a series of four games from July 7th to July 15th. The top two teams based on winning percentage will advance to the championship matchup, and the remaining 28 teams will wait for one of the fifth and last game assignments. July 16th or 17th.
The NBA has announced that these comfort matches are due to a variety of factors, including team rivals, broadcast interests, and other schedule considerations (ie, consecutive timings).
If there is a tiebreaker between the teams at the top of the leaderboard, the championship match will be determined by a series of tiebreakers.
Two teams tied:
1. Match: If these two teams play against each other in any of the previous four matches, the winning team will get a higher seed.
2. Point difference: The larger the point difference in 4 games, the higher the seed.
Two or more teams tied:
1. Point difference: The team with the largest point difference in 4 games receives the higher seed.
2. Random lottery: The top seed is determined by the “coin toss”.
When is the NBA Summer League Championship?
The Championship Game is set at 3:00 pm ET on July 17th.
How do I watch the NBA Summer League?
All 75 games will be streamed live on the ESPN network or NBA TV. ESPN + and the ESPN app also offer streaming games.
