How OU, with NCAA softball’s scariest offense, won its sixth WCWS title

OU Early in the game, we signaled that the dominant season wasn’t about to end just before the sweep. Women’s University World Series Championship series.

It took a while for everyone else to know it.

After the robbery, Jida Coleman felt it Texas Courtney Day, which would have been a three-run home run in the first inning.

Watching Coleman pull with a ball that appears destined to clear the left center wall, Jordi Barr also fired one of her main screams in the circle.

NARS Coach Patigasso I did it at OU dugout.

Longhorns coach Mike White was also helplessly watching his batter hit the ball on the field right next to third base, but he could only make two runs.

The Snurs didn’t tie the game for 45 minutes. Did not lead for about 80 minutes.

But Coleman’s early heroes OU’s final 10-5 victory over Texas It gave the Suners their sixth national championship and two consecutive years.

“I’ve seen Jada actually do it over and over again, but when it’s in the game, she’s holding your back, and in our defense When there are everyone else, it excites me more than any strike so far.

“It gives us momentum and really makes me take a deep breath because they got me.”

It wasn’t just Coleman.

Shortstop Grace Lions immediately made a dive stop for Mary Iakopo’s hard bouncer, and seemed destined to be a left fielder in the third inning.

“Defense has created this momentum for us over and over again until we find a way to get on the board,” Gasso said.

According to Gasso, the bar, which runs at 60%, was early on and out of stock.

Texas first squared the bar and loaded the base first, but Riley Boone and Coleman chased the ball on the wall.

Both became sacrifice flies, giving the Longhorns a 2-0 lead.

However, Coleman increased the size of Day’s high flyball and perfectly timed her jump to steal a home run Texas star, ending the threat.

Barr’s troubles weren’t completely over, but she settled down after Coleman’s hero and Texas didn’t score again to seventh place.

rear Wednesday 16-1 Snurs VictoryWhite said his team needed to put a lot of runs on the board to get a chance to beat the OU.

The lead of the first inning of 5-0 would have come a long way towards the minimum of 7 runs White stated.

Instead, the Snurs stayed close by.

“They are missing out on opportunities,” White said. “Because they know they’re coming back and fighting tough. They make adjustments on the plate.”

Texas couldn’t match it while the OU was playing highlights across the field.

A slow error by Longhorns third baseman Mia Scott allowed the first run of the Snurs to come in third. After a while, Ti Lung Snow delivered an RBI single for another unwinned run to tie the game.

Then came the avalanche.

The OU added four more in the fifth and was highlighted by Kinsey Hansen’s three-run home run to 6-2.

The Suners then scored another four points in the sixth, and the Lions broke the record of 15 times last season with three runs on OU’s 17th WCWS home run.

Even if he was a little disappointed with the OU at the end, Scott hit a three-run home run from Hope Troutwayne and two outs in the seventh inning. The Longhorns couldn’t reach the white magic number. It’s not enough anyway. ..

The Suners defense struggled early in the season, making featureless errors and not coming up with a game-changing play at a critical moment.

What the OU could do aggressively, and the combination of Bahl, Trautwein, Nicole May 1-2-3 in the circle, it didn’t matter.

However, the Suners gathered defensively later in the season and brought them into the postseason.

The OU had only three errors in the WCWS — the only error Sooners made in the 11 NCAA tournament games. Texas had 7 errors in 3 games for OU only.

“I told the team before I started the tournament,’Defense plays a big role,'” Gasso said. “Now it’s batter, timely batter, pitching (important), but defense can hurt or destroy you.

“This tournament, our defense made us.”

“It’s choreographed chaos”: Why the USA Softball Maintenance Crew is the Shadow Hero of WCWS

When Gasso saw Alyssa Washington’s grounder in Jenningsfield and threw it into the snow for the final out, she tried to immerse it all.

The Suners regained almost all of last year’s record attacks and played the season with the expected weight after adding Bar and Trout Wayne as their dominant weapons.

However, Gasso said he would leave the comparison between the current six championship teams to all the other teams to win the title.

“It’s surreal,” Gasso said. “The game goes fast and there are highs and lows. You’re just watching. I sit down like a fan. That’s what I’m doing. I’m sitting and watching, and these I’m just proud to see people doing that and seeing them become as emotional as they are now.

“They don’t understand how good they are. Maybe I don’t know how good they are. Everyone asks us, and we just play. Just play. We love to have fun and play. “
