‘Hungover’ Steve Kerr had great night celebrating Warriors’ 2022 NBA title

If anyone is used to celebrating the NBA Championship, it’s Steve Kerr, the Warriors.

With the Warriors defeating the Boston Celtics in Game 6 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night, Carr claimed his ninth title as both a player and a coach.

As expected, the Warriors had an after-party early Friday morning at TD Garden in Boston at the end of Thursday, and then flew back to the Bay Area for a fierce party later that day.

Upon landing at San Francisco International Airport, Carr walked to talk to a reporter and was asked how he felt.

“I’m not going to lie. I’m hangover now,” Carr said with a laugh. “Last night was a great night. It was a great night. It was midnight, but it was a special night to celebrate with the team and family. It was a very beautiful night.”

The Car and Warriors were not expected to win the title when the 2021-22 season began. And they entered the postseason as the third seed of the Western Conference. Their roster wasn’t healthy at the end of the regular season, so after the playoffs began, coaching staff weren’t sure how the team would get together.

But as in the past, the roster led by Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green soon gelled, and they Summoned their championship DNA Fight Denver Nuggets, Memphis Grizzlies, Dallas Mavericks and Celtics for their fourth title in eight seasons.

“This was the most unlikely championship of the four we held here,” Kerr said. “In many ways it makes incredible sense because people didn’t really expect it, and I really didn’t know when the season would start. So everything came together and a great run. I’m excited about everyone. “
