Los Angeles Lakers Super star Lebron James It has a reputation as a giver who seems to empower teammates, but that doesn’t mean he won’t stand up to them when they feel they haven’t done their job.
One of my former teammates, Iman Shumpert, recalled that situation in the podcast “Iman Amongst Men” (38:20).
“We were playing with Cleveland and the boy Bron. On the way, it was over,” Shumpert said. “Shorty (James) grabbed the ball at the top of the key and calmed him down. I don’t remember if he didn’t go there or what he went to, but he said,” Now, hump, turn the corner! I said. Shorty, I looked around. I saw T. Lou, everyone looks like this: Are you going to do that? You see, Cleveland is as quiet as hell, and I think, “Bro, if I react, I’m the most selfish person on the planet.” I don’t know if he understands what he said of this companion, but I don’t like being told that way. I don’t like it. But he said it in so many orders. If he hadn’t spoken to me, I would have been proud of him. But he was talking to me, so I wasn’t rolling. Over the years, James has built a reputation as one of the best, if not the best, leaders of the NBA. He learned a positive and constructive way for his teammates, riding them when needed.
Shumpert initially arrived with the Cleveland Cavaliers in a mid-season trade during the 2014-15 campaign. With his versatility, defense and three-pointer shooting, he played a valuable role for the team almost instantly.
Shumpert remained with James and the Cavaliers until the 2018 season. Together, he and the four MVPs competed in the NBA Finals each season as teammates.
With many of the best players ever, especially Michael Jordan Kobe BryantWas a fierce leader who angered his teammates a lot when he felt his work wasn’t done satisfactorily.
Perhaps James is a little less hot, a little more positive and patient than Jordan or Bryant, but it’s clear that he’s not afraid to keep it alive, especially at critical moments.
No one can argue too much about the outcome, as he won four NBA championship rings for himself, while winning at least one title in each of the three teams he played.
