International News: 2022 World Games Kick Off Today in Birmingham, Ala… Team USA Top Seed

Monica Abbott will lead a strong USA team aiming to defend the World Games title.

From college coaching moves and player transfers to club tournaments across the country, everything that is currently happening in softball is happening in the international scene as World Games begins in 2022.

After a series of exhibition games in Columbus, Alabama and Oxford, Alabama, the world-ranked U.S. Women’s National Team (WNT) will arrive in Birmingham, Alabama and begin the world in 2022. The game campaign is ranked 2nd in Japan, 3rd in Canada, 4th in Mexico, 5th in Puerto Rico, 6th in Chinese Taipei, 7th in Italy and 8th in Australia.

The event will be held at Hoovermet Stadium from July 9th to 13th.

World Games, which means the 2022 WBSC World Championship, features eight participating countries divided into two groups, with Team 1 USA being Group 1 alongside Canada 3rd, Chinese Taipei 6th and Italy 7th. Following the opening round, the top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-final round on Tuesday, July 12, with a medal round on Wednesday, July 13. The semi-final rounds and medal rounds will be broadcast live on the CBS Sports Network.

The 2022 USA Softball WNT World Games roster includes seven veterans of the 2020 US Olympic Team and four members of the 2019 Junior Women’s National Team (JWNT) World Championship Gold Medal Team. I am.

The roster also includes two athletes who previously wore red, white and blue as members of the USA Softball JWNT or USA Softball Women’s Elite Team, and two newcomers representing the United States for the first time in their careers.
