One of Bruins’ longtime commitments reversed her decision and chose to join the Pac-12 rival instead.
La Jolla Country Day School (CA) 2023 point guard Jada Williams will no longer be playing in UCLA women’s basketball after she reversed her commitment to Arizona on Monday night. Williams had previously committed to coaching the Collicloses and the Bruins in March 2021, but her recent official visit to Tucson was her country side with her Day teammate Breya Cunningham. , which may have swayed him into favoring Arizona by promising to commit there in June.
Williams isn’t the first high-profile guard to convert from the Bruins to the Wildcats in the past year. In November he received 5-star points after his guard Kiki Rice moved to his UCLA, followed by 5-star guard Paris Clark leaving the Bruins and moving to Arizona a month later.
With Williams’ dismissal, UCLA now has only one commit in the 2023 class. Four-star guard Amanda Mews committed to the Bruins on May 25 and remains on verbal pledge at this time.
According to espnW’s HoopGurlz rankings, Williams is a consensus five-star recruit and the 20th-ranked player in her class. She’s her ESPN’s #5 national points guard.
The Bruins have been involved in recruiting Williams since he first appeared on the scene during his freshman year of high school. averaging 19.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game.

Williams and Canigham jointly visited Westwood on May 9 and posed with freshman forward Gabriella Jacquez and guard Londyn Jones in a photo shared by Jacquez on her Instagram account. rice field.
Bruins’ top tier of targets for 2023 are largely under consideration with three months left before the early signing period. Williams and Cunningham are committed to Arizona, guard Amari Whiting to BYU and Muse to UCLA. Europe has become a hot recruitment destination for the Bruins’ coaching staff lately, but UCLA could add recruits from overseas instead.
A freshman class of freshmen could help you get through the small recruiting classes of 2023. Rice, Jacques, forward Christine Iwaala, Jones and forward Lisa Sontag will play a big part in the coming years and will be a cushion for Close & co. to build the future class.
