Jimmer Fredette Goes Undercover At BYU Basketball Tryouts

salt lake city – Cougar legend Zimmer Fredette sneaks into the BYU men’s basketball team’s open tryouts and impresses as ‘Slick Nick’.

In a video posted on the BYU Men’s Basketball Twitter account on Thursday, September 22, Fredette underwent a makeover before showing up for tryouts.

“There’s a new kid on the block,” BYU Men’s Basketball tweeted along with a prank featuring Cincinnati’s Fredette aka Tim “Slicknick” Schloss.

In the video, Fredette impresses a joking Mark Pope and the rest of his fellow Hoopers trying out Cougars.

After emptying the buckets in the court, Fredette removed his disguise and revealed his true identity to the tryouts.

The 2022-23 season of BYU men’s basketball begins at home to the Idaho State Bengals on November 11.

About Jimmer Fredette

Fredette played for BYU from 2007-2011.

As a senior in 2011, Guard led BYU to the No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament and made the Sweet 16.

His senior season performances earned him the Naismith Player of the Year Award and was the 2011 Consensus National Player of the Year.

During his time at BYU, Fredette averaged 18.7 points per game on a 45.5% shooting percentage. He appeared in 139 games with the Cougars.

After his senior season, Fredette was drafted into the NBA with the 10th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft.

Fredette has been playing professionally since 2011 and has played for five different franchises in the NBA. He has played for the Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Pelicans, New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns. He recently played in China for the Shanghai Sharks.

During his time in China, Fredette earned three All-Star honors and was named CBA International MVP in 2017.

The former BYU men’s basketball star recently attended the school’s home soccer game against the Baylor Bears.
