John Paxson’s clutch 3-pointer lifted the Bulls to their third consecutive title on this date in 1993

John Paxson’s Clutch 3 Pointer gave the Chicago Bulls a 99-98 road victory over the Phoenix Suns in Game 6. The victory closed Chicago’s NBA Finals 4-2.

Michael Jordan finished with 33 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. He was excellent in the fourth quarter. He scored only 9 points in Chicago this quarter, with the exception of Paxon’s 3-pointer.

The Bulls got the ball 98-96 and the Sands defense collapsed in Jordan. As a result, Paxon remained wide open with three people. He knocked down the go-a-head shot with 3.9 seconds remaining.

Phoenix had a last chance, but Horace Grant beat Kevin Johnson’s jumper with a buzzer.

Grant had only one point, but it became the most important defensive play of the game. Scottie Pippen also performed well in the Bulls, finishing with 23 points and 12 rebounds.

Charles Barkley finished with 21 points and 17 rebounds at Sands. Johnson finished with 19 points and 10 assists.

The Bulls were 10-14 with 3 points and the Sands were 4-11.

Michael Jordan has been named the Finals MVP for the third consecutive year. He then returned to the Bulls in 1995, when he left the NBA to play baseball after the end of the season.
