Lakers might have to trade Russell Westbrook sooner than they think

NBA GMs are notorious for procrastination. Decisions are rarely made until he is compelled to act. This offseason was a hilarious example of all this. With no deadline at all, we waited months for a decision to change franchises.

Luckily, with training camp just a few weeks away, we may finally be getting closer to making some decisions. perhaps. Oh my god, who knows.

The thing is: lakers At least waiting until training camp may not be enough.

For years LeBron James has enjoyed gathering teammates for mini training camps before the team’s official activities. With the two main parties of such camps infamously sitting in the same arena and completely ignoring each other, it turns out that it can get a little awkward.

So Rob Pelinka may feel like he has until the camp starts making decisions about whether or where to trade Russell Westbrook, but in reality he may not match the star’s offseason plans.

Where this is a little harder is when you consider that the Lakers’ deadline could come before Brooklyn’s, even if it’s just a few weeks. Brooklyn can afford to hold out all the way to camp. It’s not that things are getting worse. The Lakers, on the other hand, want competition this season, so they have to figure it out.

At this point, negotiations between the Lakers and the Nets have stalled as Pelinka refused to include both of the first-round picks at the Lakers’ disposal. It’s probably pretty safe to assume that it might be something to push the chips up to the middle of the table.

In this week’s Lakers Lounge, Harrison Feigen and I discussed this, one of the few Lakers games we know of right now, and some concerns about the Kyrie Irving trade.
