Lakers Rumors: L.A. cuts Matt Ryan, opens up roster spot

With a somewhat surprising timing, los angeles lakers closing out their victory over portland trailblazers Wednesday night… by waiving Matt Ryan (thus opening a spot on the roster).

Shams Charania athletic Breaking news about a man we affectionately call “Dashmamba”. His heroism earlier this season Against new orleans pelicans within 30 minutes from 128-109 win on Wednesday:

Ryan, who has just two minutes of garbage time against the Blazers and has played less than 15 minutes in total since November 11, confirmed the news after the win.

The Lakers’ roster is now 14, and that’s probably always been the case. Ryan was a stopgap solution, a shot in the dark to see if the team had enough defense to floor an ace sniper of his caliber. The answer to that was mostly “no” despite his best efforts.Rotation is something Ryan couldn’t do at all. his clutch hero — it was ultimately always a matter of “when” rather than “if” for the Lakers to cut him to free up a roster spot for the trade or buyout market.

Usually teams line up trades and signs before vacating a spot on the roster, so why would they do that now? I still don’t feel they can judge this teamPerhaps even considering discussing making a deal in two weeks is usually not a reason to cut a player. They don’t legally have to have a roster to discuss an imbalanced deal. Are they just giving Ryan a chance to catch up in a different situation and doing him a favor? Right, guys just don’t want to pay to sit on the bench and cheer? Buddy Hield and Myles Turner trade finally happen? Your guess is as good as mine, but I frown on preemptive moves like this.

Still, the timing is unexpected, and while the move isn’t entirely unwarranted given Ryan’s apparent defensive limitations, the team could have literally lost one win if he hadn’t come to the Lakers. prize. a truly unforgettable nightSo at least this blogger is a pleasant recollection of his time in Los Angeles swaying between emergency fire reinforcements, down to the high-energy bench warmers who were always the first to pick up teammates who fell to the ground at the baseline. always have

Do you think this is a harbinger of movement? Just weird timing? Are you sad that Ryan is gone? Let’s talk about it in the comments.
