LeBron James will be competing in the 17th NBA All-Star Game this year. The 36-year-old star remembered the first All-Star Weekend of his rookie era 18 years ago. He didn’t participate in the All-Star game that season, but he did participate in the Rookie Challenge.

“It was amazing,” James said. “First of all, I was a kid in Akron, Ohio and was in Los Angeles for the first All-Star game. It was a great moment for me that my family was here.

Obviously, I wanted to participate in the All-Star game. Still a little frustrating. But I got over it.I’m just here and around Melo [Carmelo Anthony] And D-Wade [Dwyane Wade] And the rest.

“It was just part of the festival and I’ve been watching it for the rest of my life. I thought,” Wow, how wonderful it would be to be in the All-Star Weekend. ” It’s the year of the Rookie, and participating in the Rookie Challenge is probably unforgettable. That night I had the opportunity to wear Dope shoes, Zoom Generation 1 Wheats. It’s one of my favorite sneakers. I was just hyped. It was a long time ago. “

The game was played at Revlon’s current home court, the Staples Center. He was a member of the Rookies team who lost to sophomores 118-142. James was the top Rookies scorer with 33 points.
