Thursday’s game is FSU’s first bowl. Mike Nobel Era and their first Bowl appearance since the end of the 2019 season when they played in the Sun Bowl. Florida State made his 49th bowl appearance and 29th bowl win in history. Since 1980, FSU’s 39 seasons of postseason appearances and 26 seasons of bowl wins are the most in the nation.
The Seminoles enter Thursday’s bowl game with a 9-3 record for the season. Aim for 10 or more wins for the 25th time in program history.
FSU head coach Mike Nobel He has a 17-16 record in his three seasons with the Seminoles. He is 55-31 as head coach over his seven seasons. Thursday marks his first coaching experience against the Sooners. It is also his fifth time Novell has led a team to a bowl game as head coach. He’s 0-3 in three bowls before he coached (in Memphis he didn’t coach the 2019 Cotton Bowl).
The Sooners are making their 56th bowl appearance, the fourth-most in the nation. Thursday marks 24 consecutive bowl appearances, the longest in school history. Oklahoma enters the game with his 6-6 record on the season and is looking to finish . 500 or better – continuing a string of winning seasons dating back to 1999. Oklahoma is the only Power Five program that hasn’t lost. 2000s season.
Brent Venables It’s his first season as head coach for the Sooners. Entering his first year as head coach for the former Clemson defensive coordinator. He was 9-3 against FSU as the defensive coordinator (3-0 at Oklahoma, 6-3 at Clemson).
Oklahoma has a 6-1 lead in the series against Florida State and has won its last six meetings. The Sooners are 3-1 in his bowl game versus the Seminoles.
