More Big 12 basketball programs adding players transferring from teams within the conference

In the not too distant past, schools often placed Kibosch on players who transferred to another program within their own meetings. However, the NCAA relaxed transfer rules of the last few years have made in-conference transfers very common, especially in this year’s Big 12.

Already this offseason, six players have moved from the Big 12 program to another at the conference. This can add spice to a game that has already been fiercely contested.

One of the 12 biggest games that struggled this season Kansas Up Texas Tech Double overtime in games that affect league titles. Kevin McCullar played in 43 of the 50 minutes of Texas Tech, the most Red Raider player. And when the two teams meet in 2022-23, McCuller will find himself on the other side after moving to Kansas this offseason.

“I know it’s going to be a fierce match,” McCuller recently told reporters about playing against a former teammate. “There’s nothing but tech and love for everything. You know I’ve decided for them, so it’s good to go back and compete there. Basketball at the end of the day So I’m looking forward to it. Certainly. ”

I remembered that Texas Chris Beard’s own return home after leaving Texas Tech wasn’t for the timid, McCuller said he wasn’t worried about the reaction.

“I’m not worried about it. After all, it’s basketball. Everyone is moving around. This and that,” McCuller said. “Basketball at the end of the day. Fans will be fans. We are there to hold a show for our fans. So I’m definitely ready.”

In the Big 12, McCuller is almost not alone. Texas Tech may have lost McCullular from its conference rivals, but the Red Raiders have pulled Jaron Tyson from Texas. ..The Red Raiders also pulled in former big 12 players with gaps between league stops: previously OklahomaWho played for Oregon last year.

Of course, it’s no exaggeration to say that Texas has made the best transfer to Tyres Hunter in the country, thanks to the favor of the league’s enemies. Iowa..Not only did Tyson lose to Texas Tech, but Texas center Tre Mitchell headed east. West Virginia.. Jay Renbridges, West Virginia, returns to Lone Star in the opposite direction, Baylor.. A Texas school during another meeting raided the north: TCU Bring in Oklahoma Protect Rondel Walker.

And Oklahoma State University will relaunch Brystombson, a former five-star security guard who started his career in Kansas before moving to the Cowboys last year.

Did you get them all? After all, 7 out of 10 big 12 teams are suitable for players who have previously recorded the time of their opponents in the meeting.

And three people who don’t — Iowa, Kansas And Oklahoma — there is little opposition to that. Iowa State University deployed the Kansas transfer Tristan Enarna last season before Enarna decided to transfer again. Kansas State University freshman Jerome Tang, an import from Baylor’s league school, kicked the tires in multiple league transfers, but eventually failed to convince him to sign and sniped the transfer between meetings. Showed that there is no problem. This is a similar setting for Porter Moser, a second year Oklahoma coach. Porter Moser has pursued multiple transfers for the Big 12. Oklahoma, for example, was a Thompson finalist in Moser’s first off-season.

team Transfer school (old school)
Baylor Jaylen Bridges (West Virginia)
Iowa Not yet
Kansas Kevin McCuller (Texas Tech)
Kansas none
Oklahoma none
Oklahoma Bryce Thompson (Kansas, 2021)
TCU Rondel Walker (Oklahoma)
Texas Tyres Hunter (Iowa)
Texas Tech Jaron Tyson (Texas)
West Virginia Tre Mitchell (Texas)

This means that the trend is unlikely to slow down anytime soon.Statistics website KenPom.com The Big 12 was ranked as the best college basketball conference in seven of the last nine years and the second best conference in the other two years.

Therefore, when a league coach is looking for a good player to play at that level, nothing is as successful as a player who has already logged in to the Big 12 for a few minutes.
