Brown’s desire to stay in Boston has been called into question following rumors that he could be traded for Kevin Durant.

Jaylen Brown is reportedly the centerpiece of the Celtics’ trade offer for Kevin Durant.

Jaylen Brown’s initial reaction, or at least the first speculated reaction, to reports that Boston had offered him in a trade for Kevin Durant didn’t look good for the Celtics.

star wings I tweeted “Yabai” Hours after the report, there was speculation that Brown wanted to leave Boston and would leave when his contract expired in 2024.

But another team executive thinks otherwise. An executive told longtime Celtics insider Steve Balpett that Brown wants to stay in Boston for the long term.

“Jaylen thinks so in the long run.” The executive told Heavy.com’s Bulpett“If they want him long-term and are going to pay him the contract he deserves, I think he’s all-in on Boston. From what I’ve heard, Jalen is a loyal man. Things don’t go well.” I know it can be frustrating at times, but I think we’ve seen that sort of thing early on in past seasons.

“But if you take a step back and look at things, I think he wants to be there. And now the Celtics don’t see that I think they know what they have in Jalen — for the present and the future — and they I would like to continue it.

Another executive told Bullpett that he wasn’t sure how trade talks between the Celtics and Nets would actually go, but that Boston would be involved in some way because of Brown’s height.

“Jaylen Brown is the best player we’ve heard related to this, so Brooklyn needs to keep that alive,” an executive told Bullpett. I don’t know yet, believe me, we’ve been trying to find out for ourselves.

“There may be nothing there, and if Brooklyn gets back to reality with what they want, there might be something. But unless they find another deal for Durant or work out with him. , teams like Boston have really good players, so at least they’re bogged down in rumors and whispers all over the league.”

The Celtics’ interest in Durant was first reported on July 25. Boston offered Durant Brown and guard Derrick White. Shams Charania of The Athletic reports..

But Boston and Brooklyn don’t have “real traction” on a potential Kevin Durant deal. Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach reported WednesdayCeltics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens and coach Ime Udoka are also in constant contact with Brown, who understands the situation, Himmelsbach added.

Durant sees the Celtics as a “preferred” landing spot after giving the Nets an ultimatum to fire or trade Sean Marks and Steve Nash. SNY’s Ian Begley reported on Wednesday.

Publicly, the Celtics have not commented on the trade rumors. Jayson Tatum and Grant Williams are the only players who have spoken out about the report, and although Tatum bowed slightly when first asked, he and Brown said, “I have more work to do.” Williams I’m sure Brown will get the right idea Coming into the season, he added that being the rumored centerpiece of Durant’s contract shows just how “worth it” Brown is.

Brown is eligible for an extension in October. But insiders don’t expect Brown to sign a contract extension this offseason, as Boston can only offer Brown a three-year, $100 million deal in addition to his two years remaining on his current deal. Just an $11 million contract. If Brown is named to any All-NBA team in the next two seasons, he could sign a five-year, $273 million contract with the Celtics when he becomes a free agent in 2024.

The Suns, Heat and 76ers are other teams Durant is reportedly eyeing as potential trade destinations. The Raptors are reportedly interested in a two-time Finals MVP.
