NBA Film Tweets: From LeBron James to Damian Lillard

NBA Twitter can be a cold, dark place.

There are death threats thrown at players like Los Angeles Lakers guard Russell Westbrook and his familyFrequent bashing by misogynists WNBAMoreAnd then there’s the daily disposal of LeBron James and other stars From Pro Hate Skip Bayless.

just a few days before, Philadelphia 76ers Coach Doc Rivers and his … Hmmm … X-rated situation It flooded our timelines. Come on Doctor!

In this world of sin I offer you a ray of light: NBA movie tweets.

Launched this month, the Twitter account has already surpassed 22,000 followers and is garnering likes and retweets for its fun and surprisingly simple concept. The idea is to dig into Twitter’s archives and post a catalog of NBA players’ tweets about movies. Reposted tweets contain player comments about the film, including positive reviews, complaints, and celebrity tweets. Sometimes I even think about movies (see Jamal Crawford, who won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year three times).

you may recognize los angeles clippers The account’s profile picture features big fan and Hollywood icon Billy Crystal. He wears his uniform as an NBA referee as part of his role in the 1990s romantic comedy “Forget Paris.”

Much like Crystal, this account is a fun and often humorous addition to the Twitterverse. It’s also one of the few instances where a celebrity’s social media posts have turned out to be positive and harmless. For a movie buff like me and his NBA geek, this is an amazing Venn diagram where my girlfriend’s two passions converge. The content should also be of interest to Blazers fans.In addition to Crawford, this account contains tweets from numerous past and present Blazers (13 of his by my count) and includes some of Rip City’s greatest figures. Evan Turner, Robin Lopez, Zach Collins When Hassan Whiteside.

The group is headlined by current franchise star Lillard, who replied in 2014. BYU Legendary Jimmer Fredette at the public invitation to rank Adam Sandler’s films.

I have no objection to the top spot, and I love screaming at “Billy Madison,” but I’m surprised Lillard loves “Anger Management” so much. Substitute “The Wedding Singer” for the list, or if you want something a little more sophisticated, replace it with Paul He Thomas He Anderson’s 2002 film “Punch-Drunk Love.”

In a nostalgic post dating back to December 20, 2009, former Blazer Seth Curry and golden state warriors Star Stephen Curry saw James Cameron’s “Avatar” (presumably at a brother’s outing). Seth and Steph (19 at the time and he was 21) were riding the hype just like the rest of the country.

Other Rip City highlights include former Blazers forward Al-Farouq Aminu Negative Reviews for “Pulp Fiction” Current Blazers forward Justice Winslow dunks on “Tall 2.” He lashes out at the Marvel Cinematic Universe with enough disdain to make Martin Scorsese proud.

Elsewhere on the account, teenage Dejounte Murray has a huge obsession with hugs. Dallas Mavericks Security guard Spencer Dinwiddie is on the verge of incriminating himself.

As you can see, the content on NBA Film Tweets is full of opinions, good, bad, ugly, and nonsensical. If he tweeted his thoughts on the movie, even the smallest thing is likely to get noticed by an NBA player. This account harkens back to a simpler time when social media wasn’t so silly. Back in the days when status updates were mostly used for quick updates about his day or random thoughts.

Plus, we hope we don’t delve too deep into this ridiculous account, but NBA Film Tweets do a good job of reminding fans that NBA players are human beings just like us. They shared the same Netflix show binge and cringe during their early teenage years (a case that applies a lot to the millennial and Gen Z crowds). Accounts remove some of that mystique and buffer. Mostly, it’s fun.

Dinwiddie was investigating film piracy just five years ago. James Harden thinks ‘Bridesmaids’ is funnyAnd in 2011, Chris Paul really wanted to find a Nick Cannon movie on DVD.

I didn’t need to know this information, but it was nice to know. That’s the beauty of NBA movie tweets.
