What is an NBA Point Spread?

The NBA promotes online betting as a bet on the potential for a team to win or lose. This is one of the few bets you can bet on your team to win if you lose if your team covers the spread.

When betting on point spreads, oddsmakers deduct points from their favorites and offer them to the underdogs. This is to ensure that all teams are treated equally and to close the gap between teams.

Spread bets allow gamblers to bet on their favorite wins (covering the spread) with a specified number of points, or for the losing dog to win completely or lose a certain number of points.
