NCAA volleyball: State upsets Arkansas; USD, BYU, Pepperdine, Ohio St. win

Only one AVCA-ranked team lost on Saturday when Mississippi State won the SEC game visiting No. 23 Arkansas.

All three ranked West Coast Conference teams won, as did Ohio State, No. 6 in the Big Ten.

Recaps and best performances follow, but first take a look at Sunday’s NCAA Division I volleyball schedule.

The ACC’s seven-game match will see No. 11 Georgia Tech take on No. 2 Louisville and No. 10 Pittsburgh out of league play against High Point in the Big South.

Top-ranked Texas is back in action at Texas Tech, with Iowa State taking on Kansas State in another Big 12 match of the day.

Interestingly, there are no matches between teams ranked in the Big 10. No. 3 Nebraska is home to Maryland, No. 5 Purdue is Rutgers, No. 7 Minnesota is Iowa, No. 8 Wisconsin is Illinois, and No. 8 Wisconsin is home. No. 12 Pennsylvania is home to Michigan.

The Pac-12 has six games, including Washington State’s No. 9 Stamford home, Arizona’s No. 16 Oregon home, and California’s No. 18 Washington. Colorado goes to UCLA, Arizona goes to Oregon, and Utah goes to USC.

In the SEC, No. 23 Arkansas is in contention again with Mississippi, Texas A&M with Georgia, and Missouri with South Carolina.

The No. 24 UCF will continue its American Athletic Conference “homestand” at Wichita State University when it faces Wichita State University, which is listed as a visitor. Houston is in Temple.
