Nebraska volleyball drops from No. 1 in rankings despite 3-0 start | Volleyball

Nebraska’s volleyball team didn’t hold on to the number one spot in the AVCA rankings despite starting the season with three sweeps.

Texas was number one and Nebraska was number two when the AVCA poll was released on Monday. Preseason polls put Nebraska in first place.

The vote moved Texas up after the Longhorns picked up two top-10 wins against preseason No. 7 Ohio State last weekend. Texas played Ohio State both Friday and Saturday, with a sweep on Friday and Saturday he won in four sets.

Texas scored 23 points more than Nebraska in the poll. The Longhorns had her 41 votes and Nebraska her 23.

Texas had a difficult schedule in the first two weeks of the season. This week, the Longhorns will face his No. 4 Minnesota and his No. 12 Stanford.

The top five in the polls shook a bit after preseason No. 3 Wisconsin lost to Baylor in five sets on Saturday. The top five are currently Texas, Nebraska, Louisville, Minnesota, and Georgia Tech.
