South Carolina is AP Top 25 Women’s Basketball Poll Reached a milestone in the process on Monday.
The Gamecocks have held the #1 spot for 27 straight weeks, making it the fifth-longest ranking of all time. UConn has his three of the top four streaks, including his record-breaking 51-week run from February 18, 2008 to his December. October 10, 2010. Louisiana Tech’s 36th consecutive week is his second-longest. The Huskies also posted runs of 34 and 30 weeks in first place.
South Carolina started last season in No. 1 and remains the top team, even though they haven’t relinquished their rankings, including a year ago when they lost in a week-long game.
The Gamecocks now surpass Texas’ 26-week run for fifth all-time. Over the past two years, he’s been 17-0 against the top 25 teams, and this season he’s 3-0.
The top five teams in the poll remained unchanged as Stanford, Ohio State, Indiana and Notre Dame stayed behind the Gamecocks, who received all 28 votes from a national media panel. Play against A&M.

The LSU will face their first ranked opponent of the season when the Tigers visit 24 Arkansas on Thursday. The Razorbacks are down seven places in the polls after losing to both Oregon and South Florida last week. For Mike Neighbors’ team, it was his first two losses of the season.

UConn hopes to have coach Geno Auriemma back when the No. 8 Huskies visit No. 21 Clayton on Wednesday.
Oriemma Missed last 2 games, both UConn wins. After his Dec. 18 shootout before the Huskies played Florida State, he began experiencing flu-like symptoms, according to the school. Auriemma’s 91-year-old mother passed away on her December 8th.
The 68-year-old Hall of Famer said in a statement, “A lot has happened in the last few weeks and I think it’s caught up with me physically.” CD (Chris Daly’s longtime associate head coach) and coaching staff will continue to do a great job in my absence and I am sure the team will be back in a few days.
